What Charlo should do is pull what Brook did with Eubank Jr., but do it publicly. Go on video playing up the villain/badass persona even more, and say "Yo GGG, I hear you been having trouble getting opponents. I hear Danny Jacobs has been reluctant to sign on the dotted line. Well how about you face a real champion. I'm also with Al Haymon just like Jacobs, so this is my offer. If Jacobs won't accept your offer for March 18, I am willing to take that offer instead, with the exact same terms, and fight you March 18 at 160 for your three belts."

Jermall coming off this big knockout... THIS is how fighters were able to grow out of just being belt holders, and become real superstars, in the old days. This is how it was done rather than the 100% risk adverse bull**** so many do today.

Jermall can really ride this momentum into stardom. He is naturally bigger than GGG so there's no reason this can't happen. And it would only serve Jermall's brand, so to speak, even more if he could upstage Jacobs, and make it look like everyone is ducking GGG, but Jermall is willing to jump in front of all those guys and take on the challenge. It would be a bad-ass power play we haven't seen in boxing since, well, Brook, but that was kind of reactive. Eubank Jr. had already messed it up, then Hearn offered it to Brook. If Charlo could actually go call GGG out ahead of time, and not a generic bs callout like Lara did but a real one where he says he will take the Jacobs offer for the Jacobs date right away, that would be a power play in boxing by someone truly aiming for stardom that we haven't seen in awhile.

And to me GGG-Jermall Charlo is interchangeable with GGG-Jacobs in terms of quality. I am happy with either March 18. Do it Jermall!

What do yall think? Should Jermall do it? The only thing that worries me that this can't happen is that GGG fights have VADA drug testing, and Jermall-JRoc had no VADA or even USADA drug testing, even though PBC had promised all their boxers would do year-round testing. I won't accuse anyone but certain physiques of certain fighters, perhaps more than one, made me raise my eyebrows. But I will admit I'm no specialist in spotting juicing or anything. This just a boxing fan's opinion. That's the one big issue I could see, Charlo going from no VADA testing to VADA testing. But I hope Charlo is clean, there is no evidence he's not, and that he fights GGG March 18!
Your idea isn't bad overall but why does Charlo need to put on a fake persona? I'd rather he be himself instead of becoming a WWE character just to appeal to a certain type of fan.

Also, I'd like to see him against a decent 160lber before facing GGG.....Lemuiex would be perfect.

Hi Steve Kim, you are an idiot, Charlo should have to do no such thing. All he has to do is keep being exciting in the ring and the rest will speak for itself.

You ******s love seeing the black guy go heel and play the bad guy, but guy's like GGG have to do no such thing and just smile for the camera.

Gone are the days where the black guy has to act like a buffoon. Fcuk that, Charlo should be himself and get exciting KO's.

Why don't you tell GGG to go heel against Canelo?

BTW, I know it kills you, but Ward is still champ.

Bad Guy is a wide open role for a boxer to jump into these days with Floyd gone & Broner turning into a white emo teenager in between criminal activities so yea I agree.

Anyone who is willing to try out a villain role in boxing will be doing their bank account a huge service if they can get some movement in social media with that role. There is definitely more to it than Floyd or Conor McGregor will have you thinking as a few guys in boxing tried to copy Mayweather & every 4th guy in the UFC is wearing suits to pressers now & talking about (their favorite color) panty night like Conor lately trying to duplicate the results of Floyd & Conor without the charisma or personality of Floyd & Conor.

People are critical of this often by comparing it to WWE or acting, but the reality is fans of sports tend to like to see beef & you don't necessarily gotta be fake so much as turn your personality up to 11. And from most of what I can gather is the Charlo's got a above average ability at being ****holes so they don't need to be fake so much as flick the dial on their personality to 11.

Don't talk to Steve Dim that way, he's a writer for boxingscene you know and his face looks like the surface of the moon.

Of course you would want another black guy to coon it up and act like a buffoon for the camera's. Figures.

Why don't you ask GGG and Canelo to be the bad guy, throw chairs and cause all kinds of ruckus?

How this guy is a boxingscene writer is beyond me.

He is a complete, utter moron.
