They fought in Pontiac Michigan not Detroit. I went to that fight. Roc Nation is based on New York. Main Events is based in New Jersey. The largest concentration of Russians in the US are in New York. You also have 10 million people you don't have to convince to fly out to the desert and get a room for the weekend. You take advantage of the biggest media market in the US. It's much easier to get casuals on New York than it is to get them to fly to Vegas for the weekend

Arum put SAS on his broadcast and got tons of free promotion and people talked about him, good and bad, for days after. And it was more expensive than this fight and sold better without there backing of HBOLast edited by Motorcity Cobra; 12-06-2016, 08:37 AM.Comment

But, it sold 4.5 million and floyd walked away with well over 200 million...he got out while the getting was good...the way I get out after lous mom blows me, they she goes and tongue kisses him goodnightComment

Like I said also. Having it in the biggest media market in the US helps the promotion. The promotion seemed pretty non existent to me. Seems like they relied to much on the boxing media into shaming people buy the fight because it's the best vs the best.

I posted before they made money just not what expected...
They made $13 mil which doesn't include what they sold the international rights for the PPV which was probable $5 mil, or merchandise. When you take away $6 mil they paid the fighters that leaves $12 mil to divide not including expenses. We'll be generous and say other expenses totaled $6 mil which leaves $6 mil to divide between Roc and Main Events. Somehow I think they'll be ok. Fighters will get less in the rematch and it'll be another PPV.Comment

Are you saying Canelo's fight in Vegas didn't have $1000 floor seats?
The cheapest seats, which cost $150, are sold out. But seats can still be purchased for as low as $250, while the best tickets cost $1,500. Other tickets cost $400, $600, $800, $1,000 and $1,200.Comment
