he is willing to fight ggg at the full 160 in september and that alone is a big concesion, not because he will have trouble at 160, but because he could drain ggg at a lower weight if he wanted... what is GGG willing to concede in order to make this fight???

drawing strength doesn't matter when it's beyond obvious that Golovkin is the lesser star, yet the Ward fight (and other fights, tbh) fell apart because of Golovkin's camp and their insistence on being treated like the bigger star. gtfoh.
Golovkin and his camp have, in their hand, an apparent offer worth over $10m and have balked at taking the fight. lol

All other fights are not superfights in terms of money (Ward? 160K buys? Really?), while Canelo is for glory and BIG money. The only fight which GGG would take for whatever money and shot at superstardom would be Mayweather fight, but it doesn't seem realistic.

100 mil purse would be similar to mayweather v. canelo, and I think ggg v. canelo could do that, if you disagree fine. But I have heard no industry expert say GGG should definitely take 10 mil because purses will be x amount and therefore 10 mil is fair.
Actually you got me looking into it, and Canelo makes far less than I expected per fight. That just strengthens my argument that Canelo doesn't make much more than GGG, he can't make anything close to big money without GGG, and GGG's manager would be a fool to accept 10 mil flat.

9/1 is a ludicous split, any manager representing GGG would be guilty of professional malpractice to accept 10 mil of such a huge pot.
Both fighters should, and easily can, make far more than they would in a normal fight. GGG could agree to take the small side of a 75/25 split, and do far better than 10 mil.
Frankly, Canelo has no where to go but through GGG. He's already damaged his career according to JMM, and Mexican fans will abandon a coward, i.e. Chavez Jr. Therefore GGG has leverage to demand a decent split.
It's not really whether GGG should take short money for the fame (why not fight for a dollar then?) but that no competent manager should or would allow him to do so.
Saul Alvarez can fight Billy Joe Saunders for the WBO 160lb belt (the WBO does very little work with the other three governing bodies anyway) and simply defend that belt for however long he wants to stay at middleweight.
Golovkin has to face Daniel Jacobs or he'll be stripped of the WBA belt, and the IBF's mandatory defense is also coming due soon enough (putting that belt in the lurch as well). nice try, though
