I wish Golovkin fought Ward, I do. I've been of the belief that he would have beaten him at 168, but realistically the fight didn't happen for legitimate reasons. No one leaves their weight class to fight a nobody (and that stands, proven by the Ward-Kovalev numbers) for meager pay.

I agree. After watching the Ward/Kovalev fight, I'm convinced Golovkin would beat Ward. In my opinion although Ward is very skilled he was exposed against the power of Kovalev. Golovkin would bring a world of trouble for Ward. I know a fight between them is unlikely to happen soon. Golovkin has to clean out his division first. I still think Ward won't want any part of Golovkin when the time comes. Just sayin.

They never negotiated. Loeffler said no thanks and never sent a counter offer. The 164 came from an interview with Rafael when he asked Loeffler what it would take to get the fight done.
