I personally like him, he isn't always running like Floyd or Rigo. He will try to get inside and sometimes it doesn't work out and clinching occurs but he doesn't stall there like most fighters. He's a throwback guy and I dig it.Comment

The rep Oscar has today is just a shame because the guy was truly something else. Total warrior with one of the most versatile skill sets I've ever seen. How often do we see someone excel at so many aspects?
It's sad how far a pair of fishnets and a promotional gig can drag you down...Comment

Yup. Truly a master boxer. A tactician. A ring general. The way he would dance and use his jab like an automatic rifle and then let off lightning fast combinations to finish rounds in a rally. The rep Oscar has today is just a shame because the guy was truly something else. Hard to find many fighters more fundamentally sound.
His downfalls were related to drugs, lack of focus, and distractions, but talent and skill, he was truly great. And he fought everyone he could. A real fighter.Comment

Yes, I live in Tennessee. We have the Memphis Grizzlies NBA team, but I never get that way. I did go see the Roy Jones Jr.-Glen Johnson fight many years ago and then the GlenJohnson-Antonio Tarver rematch and guess who was on one of those cards? Andre Ward in a six round bout I believe when he was just getting started. I also got to see the Ike Quartey-Verno Phillips fight which was pretty good at the FedEx forum which was brand new back then. I also met Kennedy McKinney at a concession stand. he was flirting with the girls behind the counter. Haha. It was really cool though. I wish more fights were held in Memphis like that.
We also have the Tennessee Titans and the college Tennessee Vols college football team. The college football especially is huge around here.Comment

I was never the biggest fan, although he was very talented. I think the golden boy image crap I didn't really like. I always thought fighters should act like men- not pretty boys, but that's just me.Yup. Truly a master boxer. A tactician. A ring general. And yes, the dude fought everybody out there at the time, except for maybe Kostya Tszyu but I don't blame Oscar. Some fights just don't happen for one reason or another. His record reads like a who's who of those days.Comment
