not only did he not throw any combos

he didn't land a single meaning right hand to Kov's face. that's how awful his boxing is.

I don't se how Larry. People like to compare him to Floyd but to me Floyd is entertaining. It's fun to see Floyd feel them out until he figures them out or begins to time them. With Ward it's just not that. He is more entertaining Han Lara as others have mentioned but that's not saying much

Depends on who he fights. I thought the Kovalev fight was entertaining. I thought the Edwin Rodriguez fight was also entertaining. I think Wards clinching style is exaggerated. I saw Kovalev doing a lot of clinching too, and he was all over Wards neck.

I appreciate him, but I wouldnt say he was entertaining. Kovalev made him entertaining because he is that kind of fighter.

I always found Mayweather entertaining because he lands solid shots. Really snaps his opponents head back. Rigo too. Both of those two are low output fighters.
You and I are very similar in our tastes. I too find Floyd and Rigo entertaining because of the very reasons you listed, they snap an opponents head back and you can see them visibly hurting their opponents. Also Floyd and Rigo are very graceful in their movements which makes them a pleasure to watch.

Ward on the other hand is sloppy and messy with his work. He also doesn't seem to have as much pound for pound power as Floyd or Rigo have which makes him less pleasurable to watch in my eyes.

I don't mind Ward as a fighter and he's definitely a top 5 pound for pound guy but he lacks that X factor that separates great fighters from very good fighters.

It's hard for me to enjoy fights where there isn't much output. I guess it depends on who's fighting but I like to see punches being thrown. Even missed punches makes in more interesting. I like action. Like Carmen Basilio said, he gave the fans action. That's important.

Ward on the other hand, does a lot of that tying up and octopus crap and maybe it's effective although clearly illegal, but still, is it really fun to watch? For me, it's definitely not. I don't think it demonstrates any true ability other than the ability to make any fight ugly. Thoughts?

not at all. I love inside fighting and Ward is the only great inside fighter today. I feel that his dullness is somewhat exaggerated, I'm not a "boxing purist" I can't watch Rigo or Lara, and I don't get why Ward gets compared to those guys. He may not be Erik Morales but he has good, fun fights like Kessler, Miranda, Dawson, Froch and of course Kovalev

Master tacticians entertain me just as much as heart and guts, but of course everyone have different tastes
