The topic asks for a scorecard y'know, you can't say

"I didnt score the fight as i wanted to enjoy it but this seems like the correct score"

and then proceed to race bait and bitch when you don't see a scorecard that's not favorable to you

Funny how everyone who has it 114-113 Ward saw the fight multiple times, is a huge Ward fan and is biased against eastern european fighters.

Any neutral fans score it 114-113 for Ward? I mean you would have to give every close round to Ward.

I think the difference in most peoples score cards, because this wasn't a hard fight to judge, just a close fight, is that most the people that have Kovalev winning, gave Kovalev the round when he hurt ward feeling that it negated most of the not completely dominating work that ward did in the round.

Like the round that ward did all that good work then got buckled badly by a Kovalev jab near the end.

A lot of people will give that round to Kovalev as the prevailing wisdom in boxing is if the guy hurts you, and you didn't absolutely dominate the round, you lost the round.

Just the same as how you get an extra point for a knock down.

Because one punch that buckles your legs badly is more effective than an entire round a slightly outboxing a guy.

To give ward the win, you had to have scored those rounds for ward.

Not saying thats wrong, if thats your way of scoring, since scoring is objective.

But when you have a boxer, and a puncher. The puncher definitely gets credit you know... landing a big shot. Since he isn't really expected to go out there and outbox the boxer pure boxer every second of the round.

The only real swing round of the fight was round 3. That could have gone either way, but looking back at it. It was a toss up that you would give to ward because he managed to pull himself together after the KD in round 2. If there had not been a KD in round 2 you probably would have given the round to Kovalev. All the other rounds were pretty clear depending on your judging criteria.

With all that said. Big props to Ward. He showed balls sticking to his gameplan through adversity and adapting. Especially when you could see the fear and uncertainty on his face through the first couple rounds when he was getting tagged hard.

He showed more heart and balls in 1 fight than Floyd showed in his entire career.
