Dominating easy guys shouldn't be how we judge fighters p4p. Fights like this where you have to win against another great fighter is the best measure.

I think both men were elevated by this fight and you can make a case that they are tied at #1.
How.much better than chilemda did ward do against Kovalev?

Ward hasn't clearly beaten a top fighter in over 4 years.

Again I've spent time talking about how boxing hasn't stood still and p4p shouldn't automatically mean ward jumps to one unless he looks phenomenal.

I won't go over that yet again.

Bottom line, four years of fighting bums and one robbery is a slap in the face of other mor worthy and accomplished p4p entrants.

people giving ward a hard time he moved up to 175 to fight kovalev, kovalev was naturally bigger. ward got up off the floor and brought it too him.. imo ward done enough to sc**** by but it easily could have gone to kovalev... let them rematch and fight out ward#1 p4p kovalev #2... its funny how people blame ward for the judges scorecard

Ward IMO did much better. This fight wasn't a robbery even though I agree that Kov won.

I don't disagree with the fact that Ward shouldn't just jump to #1. He likely will not because a lot of voters who scored the fight had Kov winning.

I understand that point. I don't think you can't just negate all the other wins he had just because they weren't current.

He isn't special but in an age of mediocrity I thought his strength and in fighting separated him from the pack. It doesn't lol

Kovalev is still no. 1, GGG, Gonzalez, possibly Wlad/Pacquiao and Bradley make up the rest of the top 5. Canelo could be in there too.

IMO Ward would have been top 5 with a genuine win over KOvalev, even with 4 years of fighting bums but without a legit win, he can't make it into a top 10 slot. I'm wondering how his performance was that much better than Chilembas?
Just shut up already, you keep making yourself look like a fool.

I guess you like The Ring p4p list yet they scored the fight for Kovalev. As did pretty much every other major publication. If they are to have Ward as number one, what does that say to you ?

not better at all really. chilemba was actually much better at range than ward. ward only success came when he was holding and hitting which is illegal but once again no one cares. if chilembas name was andre ward he would be champ right now.

They accept the decision and rate him accordingly. Most fighters and people in the sport saw a close fight that could have gone either way. This was no robbery.
