No1 p2p fighter doesn't look like that in the first 3 rounds.. He was getting wobbled by jabs, KD in 2nd and was holding and lifting Sergey's leg at one point. It looked awful and somehow comical.

        1) Crawford 2) GGG 3) Ward 4) Gonzalez

Ward performance against Kovalev as not really impressive. He did wrestle kovalev for the first 5 rounds until he got him tired. From there he started winning the rounds on points. Ward is a clever fighter, more clever than Kovalev thats for sure. But he lack the offensive ability that separate him from my top 2 p4p fighters. Hes playing too much dirty tactics instead of just boxing.

Nd Sergei was putting him in head locks. Let's not act like they weren't both wrestling and holding. Both of them were. Sergei didn't like fighting on the inside so every time Ward went in, he either, held, pushed or headlocked. It was a contentious ugly fight at times. But especially in the mid to late rounds, Ward got some good body work done on the inside. These were high quality p4p fighters fighting. I've seen Floyd look bad against lesser opposition. Same can be said for Manny. P4p doesn't mean you don't look bad at times. Everyone looks bad. It's boxing.

Why is showing guts all of a sudden making someone a p4p entrant?

If they make a catchweight of 164...which is very unlikely now considering Ward isn't going back down to smw just yet, then GGG can maybe match them with his skill but anything more than that and he gets stopped by Kovalev and smothered by Ward.

But GGG isn't part of the discussion for this anyway.
I mentioned it because bigdramashow is a GGG fan

This isnt guts as in corales getting off the floor and throwing a bomb ,it guts and concentration to get up compose yourself and stick to a gameplan after having all your senses scattered, you could see it in ward how shocked he was that hed never been in eith someone that good,he managed to come back from that and outbox kovalev in some rounds ,he won at least 5 imo, never once said hed win

I saw the same kind of composure in floyd when rocked by mosley

People are getting a misconception that being p4p no.1 means all their fights have to be one sided wins...sometimes p4p champs are in with better calibre fighters than what floyd had on his resume

Ward went above his weight class to fights the new best and most dangerous opponent possible and he was able to win. That achievement make sure him #1 P4P.
