  • Ward certainly isn't P4P No. 1

What happened to all this talk of Ward being p4p no. 1? lol

Kovalev just showed that Ward isn't the type of versatile fighter he was being compared to. I won't even mention those other fighters name because that's a disgrace.

Ward is a 2 trick poney. Clinch and fight on the inside, then jab on the outside. Kovalev out did him in both.

I actually said something on BA or whatever forum I was on at the time, 4 years ago after the Dawson fight, that if Ward fights someone who is healthy and can match him for size and strength he loses. That's what we saw last night.

I'm gonna put my hand up and say I didn't think Kovalev would be as strong but he was and once he took that from Ward, what did he show exactly? He showed Chilemba levels of defense, which is good but nothing special.

I'll think you'll find he will be #1 on every list that matters. Yours and the other crybabies are lists that don't matter.

      Yeah he is

Certain type of boxing fans are having flashbacks of May 2015

No he is not because he couldn't clearly seperate himself from another top rated P4P fighter. If Kovalev he gotten the decision wouldn't have been P4P #1 either due to the same reason, that fight needs a rematch, Kovalev showed he was better technically, Ward showed he was very tough mentally, but nobody showed they're all round better mentally and technically, I'd lose all respect I have for Ward now (which is more than the respect I had for him before the fight) if he ran away with such an indescicive victory and robbes us as well as Sergey from a rematch we and Sergeyy truly deserve.

He really isn't anything special. He's just a very solid all around fighter. He's Technically sound with a deep understanding of boxing but he lacks the physical and athletic gifts that truly great fighters possess.

Ward got a gift, regardless of how tough he was mentally. I give him props for that but after that bs I have less respect for him then I did when he dragged Dawson down a full weight division.

He isn't special but in an age of mediocrity I thought his strength and in fighting separated him from the pack. It doesn't lol

Kovalev is still no. 1, GGG, Gonzalez, possibly Wlad/Pacquiao and Bradley make up the rest of the top 5. Canelo could be in there too.

IMO Ward would have been top 5 with a genuine win over KOvalev, even with 4 years of fighting bums but without a legit win, he can't make it into a top 10 slot. I'm wondering how his performance was that much better than Chilembas?

I can't call it a gift decision, it was a razor close fight that could've easily been a draw. And no one "dragged" Dawson to anything, Dawson was the one who wanted the fight and was the one who proposed the weight, he wasn't obliged to fight Ward at any weight because Ward wasn't his mandatory, so if Dawson was drained he has no one to blame except himself.

GGG, Bradley and Wladimir are NOT in the top 5, Kovalev is NOT number 1 because he couldn't clearly beat the other P4P fighter he fought, and Andre Ward IS a special fighter whether you like it or not. You don't win olympic gold, beat top rated greats like Kessler, Froch, Abraham, Dawson and give one of the top 3 P4P fighters that fight he gave Kovalev at a higher weight division isn't ordinary and is indeed special whether you like it or not.

Ward looks like a little juice head with how compact he is, like a little tank. Not a great boxer, but the muscles pay off in the inside. All his work until maybe the 10/11th were those bodyshots while wrestling. Don't think he landed a single power shot to the head(which is usually seen as shots that score more than bodyshots) the entire fight before that.

Kovalev was the king on the inside, did you watch the same fight?

Even the sky commentators who at one time had Ward winning the fight by 3 points lol gave more credit to KOv on the inside.

Ward got out boxed and out wrestled.
