I had it wider for Ward. Not sure why Kovalev or his fans are even upset. Kovalev's reputation of being stubborn showed tonight, and it's part of the reason why he lost. JDJ even told him to stay on the outside and stop clinching. What did Kovalev do though? He disregarded, and kept clinching and Wrastlin. While he is wrastlin, he isn't scoring. Ward was outworking the second half of the fight. Had Kovalev kept boxing from the outside, he would have stopped Ward inside four or five rounds. Ward couldn't avoid the shots, he would eat one to land one.Comment

Kovalev's knockdown must have deleted all of his previous memories. On a serious note Ward showed a lot of courage and I'm not suprised, I knew that he's very tough, and he made it competitive but no way he won. If some people think that Kovalev only won 3 or 4 rounds than Ward did even lesser. It looks like for some people to give Kovalev a round, he has to hurt Ward badly and stun him, if not they automaticaly score it for Ward.
I separated this fight in 3 nonchronological/nonlinear parts:
1st - Obvious Ward rounds
2nd - Obvious Kovalev rounds
3rd - Kovalev's rounds, where Ward did better than in those rounds where he got outclassed, but Kovalev still won them. I think the rounds 9 & 10 are a good exemple. He was landing better shots and outworking him, but since Ward managed to land 2 or 3 shots, unlinke in the 2nd part where he did nothing, Kellermann was going nuts, praising him, while ignoring all the good work Kovalev did in those same rounds. Just how many times he kept on chatting with RJJ while he was landing some good shots as if nothing happened.Last edited by StefanTosic; 11-20-2016, 10:11 AM.Comment
