I wanted Ward to win, but not like this. It was a close fight. The only outcomes I saw were Kovalev by 1 or 2 rounds, a split decision in favor of Kovalev, or a draw. I liked the dirty boxing. It was a smart strategy to sneak those body shots to slow Kovalev down, but that wasn't enough to win the fight. I would have been happy with a draw. Ward shouldn't have got the decision, especially a unanimous one. Next fight is going to be at the Oracle.

I feel the same way as Bradley-Pacquiao fight, if everyone thinks you got a gift, you didn't really win and that's enough for me.
Kevin Iole, Eddie Hearn and literally the entire 5 man Sky Team had Ward winning just for starters.

One thing also id like to point out is that Kovalev was the champion and Ward didnt do enough to take the belt from him but o well thats y boxing is where its at.

He showed a lot of courage and grit in there against a very strong and powerful opponent. He actually surprised me in this fight. I picked Kovalev to win before the fight, but after the knock down, Sergey just wasn't effective enough for me.
He allowed Ward to slow the pace and get back into a rhythm. Sure, he was the aggressive but failed to cut off the ring and was reduced to landing only single punches at a time.
However, I can honestly say that there were no real losers tonight. I thought the fight could have gone either way but Ward seemed liked he wanted it just a little bit more to me.
As there was no sense of urgency in Kovalev, after the first two rounds; Especially that second round knockdown but I would love for these to two to fight again.
I really don't see any losers tonight too, I really do not believe that Kov lost. He would obviously be disappointed because he has an official loss on his record but hopefully he would get over it and get his deserved rematch, he definitely need to up his game doe because he was boxing at a slower pace for a while, Ward obviously had something to do with that too but Kov is better than that.

What I want to know is how Kovalev doesn't dominate a fighter who has no right hand? One right hand landed to the face of Kovalev the whole fight, not that Kovalev landed that many more. Maybe I should give more credit to Ward for keeping off someone like Kovalev just with his lead hand.

Can this board just admit that Kovalev did do more damage throughout the fight but boxing is scored on a round by round basis and this fight had too many swing rounds for anyone to get robbed
