Why not get carried away..
He's whooped everyones ass ..
and I mean WHOOPED!
No one has come even close to beating him ..not even Tsyzu..
He's better than alot of you guys are giving him credit for..
Hatton had to use a certain strategy in order to beat Tszyu that night, on top of all the other stuff, like age, weight issues, inactivity, etc.
Even in the later rounds, when Hatton decided to finally "box", Tszyu was breathing through his mouth and tired, and he was started to out-box Ricky a bit. That is why people wonder "if" the fight had an American ref would it have favored Ricky still
The difference in handspeed will be staggering and Hatton too would stagger across the ring because Sugar Shane is just too skilled, quick, and experienced for the talented Ricky Hatton
I guess the real question is...if Castillo defeats or KO Corrales again even...and Shane beats Vargas by 2 or 3 rounds in decision...and both fighters are now on the table to fight Hatton...would u want him to...
A. (Mosely) stay at welter and make tons of money, would ADD more to the hype against Mayweather, since Floyd hasn't beaten him yet..
or
B. (JLC) go back down to 140 and fulfill a dream match...but would b less hyped since Floyd beat him...
I do think he is lucky to come in now, instead of 5+ years ago:
Shane, Oscar, Forrest, Trinidad, etc. all had a good chance of beating him, and probably still do.
Forget those fighters (and include Gatti on the list), Hatton's only gonna use one of those as an attention-grabber before the big Floyd fight, then he'll be in a position to clear out the younger guys at 140-147...Cotto, Corrales, Castillo,Margarito, Judah. There are half a dozen of really exciting fights for ricky at 140-147.
Just said on Sky Sports that HBO are lining this up next for Ricky should he beat Collazo.
Not seen much of this guy but has a very good record, beating de la hoya twice, vargas, estrada. Only lost on decisions to Forrest x2, winky x2. Seems like a big step up, surely he is naturally quite bigger aswell?
What's he like, how would you see it going?
I don't know if that would be a smart move for Hatton..
