The Ike Quartey who Oscar defeated, was no killer.
By the time they fought, he was a rusty, tentative fighter...nothing like the machine he was in '94-'96.

You guys do understand that Ike was nearly KO'd by Jose Luis Lopez, in Ike's last fight prior to facing Oscar ? You also understand that was 16 months earlier ?

Howver, I do see you have a case with your last paragraph.

I don't like dela Hoya. But I know he's damn good fighter. He has been known to choose his opponents well, though. He picked Gatti, a lightweight to beef up to welter. Easy pickings. He put one a good show against' Trinidad but got on his bicycle with 4 rounds left. He lost to Whitaker but got the win. He definitely lost to Sturm, but Sturm could arguably have done a little more than just jab all night.

Sturm is the reason why Hoya would never pick a fight with Winky.
why would i agree with the thread starter ****nut? maybe u need to search through my last posts, cause you'll see that i say DLH has only lost 3 times in his career, the first mosley fight the sturm and hopkins fight, moron

Jab my boy how the **** are ya?

I will have to go back at look at my ring magazines but most experts were picking Ike as I recall-so maybe he was not the fighter he was a few years prior but he still was a very popular choice to beat Oscar a very popular choice.

Jab leave Oscar alone, he's my son and I love him very much-I wont have you disrespecting him around me, I just won't have it!

And why are you so defensive? Quit bitching like a little girl. Sheesh.

if i recall correctly, oscar also had to postpone the fight because of a cut, that some found "questionable"...

There should be no questioning a performance like this...it is very rare you see a prospect with 16 pro fights step up into this kind of class this early....pointing out the weight issue is a bit shaddy, Oscar should be praised for this fight and that is the only way you can go on that one.

i give oscar credit for beating a good smaller man, but its not that monumental... i do give him praise for fighting a tough guy like molina that early in his career..

                      David Reid?
