Ideally yea, but it's only one fight and he's saying he'll move up. In reality, Canelo never four a true MW, but still was.
If Canelo was to say he is staying at 154, then he'd vacate it. Many fighters will move up and down for one fight, and that isn't the same as moving for good.
This is why in many occasions the lineal means little.
Stevenson is lineal champion at LHW, but Kovelev is the best.
GGG is the best MW, but he has never had a shot at the lineal champion, they always duck him.
The irony here is the lineal has now become the bs title here while the other accurately showing the real champ.Last edited by Progrssive_Jedi; 09-23-2016, 03:41 AM.Comment

Here are the seven situations in which a champion can lose his belt:
The Champion loses a fight in the weight class in which he is champion.
The Champion moves to another weight class.
The Champion does not schedule a fight in any weight class for 18 months.
The Champion does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight).
The Champion does not schedule a fight with a Top-5 contender from any weight class for two years.
The Champion retires.
The Champion tests positive for a banned substance.
There you go, Canelo just fought Smith who is ranked at Jr. Middle weight, so basically he doesnt have to fight a ranked fighter for 2 years. And as long as he fights a Middleweight by November of 2017, he will remain the Ring Middleweight lineal champion.
The Champion does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight).
This is the Ring rule in force here...

That has to sting...lolBeing ranked in 2 weight class at the same time isn't new. He beat lineal and number 1 ring 160 champ Cotto. He was number 1 154 before that as early as last nov. He just beat another top 10 and champ in smith so he retains his number 1 status at 154. Where is the controversy?
I guess GGG and his fans know nothing about this because he has never and will never move up to another weight class. Floyd and Pacman and many others have been ranked in 2 weight class at the same time.Comment

Canelo will now move up and that means he has nothing, just his imaginary belt from daddy Oscar who makes sure that Little Nelo fights one bum after another at Canelos preferred weight and whenever a fight is close he will make sure the judges score every round for Canelo.Comment

I don't even care for lineage it'd just be nice if he was able to achieve it take Flounders belt as a gift as he's been giving all these so called boxing fans gifts, it'd be nice he could have a gift in return. Then get into some serious action whereby that action may be slightly competitive ie 168 ! Not that I even think he'll lose at the weight, I think he beats the top three guys with ease I only see two danger men the hulking mass who struggles making 168 Callum Smith and Ward if he can even make weight anymore, I'd prefer a catch weight in that fight like 170-171 to offset the natural discrepancies in natural weight, height and reach should it materialise. Anyone commanding Ward make 164 needs their heads kicking in, thoroughly.Ideally yea, but it's only one fight and he's saying he'll move up. In reality, Canelo never four a true MW, but still was.
