I said it from day one and certain PBC fanboys were telling me I was wrong.

The PBC model was very confusing. Biggest mistake they made was the the fact that they had no consistency. Fight cards on different days of the week at different time slots and on a plethora of networks. It was hard to keep up with it. Sometimes I wouldn't even know there was a PBC card on until AFTER it aired.

If you want to build a fan base you need consistency.

If Haymon wanted to take the UFC model and apply it to boxing, he forgot one thing. The UFC is an organization with it's own champions, there are no sanctioning bodies controlling the order of fighter ranks and multiple champions.

Back when PBC first launched, there was rumor that belts were being created and each weight class would end up with a PBC champion. If that had happened, there would have been tournaments set up to crown a champ, and an actual narrative to the fighters paths.

Doing something like that would have been revolutionary to the sport of boxing. Eliminate the 3rd wheel (the sanctioning bodies) and just create a central product for boxing. Now, this wouldn't have necessarily hurt the other networks as I would assume if the model worked out as intended, they would follow suit and HBO and Showtime would have their own roster with their own champs, similar to other MMA orgs like Bellator and Raizon. This may have increased the amount of top fights we would see as each would be competing for the gold standard of being the best.

Too many channels is def an issue but at the end of the day PBCs problem is simple. That matchups suck. Yes there have been some good cards and yes there have been a few marquee fights, but not nearly enough.

If they had good fights and good match ups on a consistent basis, it would have caught on with casuals and been much more successful. Unfortunately the greed of individuals is preventing everyone from prospering

Now that fund manager works for Haymon. Go figure.
Sorta kinda. You are talking about Ryan Caldwell who's been one of the best investors in the business for over a decade. He works as a consultant/board advisor for PBC which is more of a free lance-ish, overall guidance type position than he's the CEO or something like that. Currently his main job is running the Chiron Investment Management fund

Tend to agree, but I still feel like its a no win situation with the amount of channels potentially. Either they throw all the pasta on the wall & see what sticks like they've been doing or they pinpoint shows on a specific station or a couple stations & they potentially leave the door open for someone riding PBC's coattails. I see pros & cons with both options so I can't fault them too much for the one they choose.

PBC is not dead but it doesnt look top good

I was really looking forward to what PBC seemed to try to do.Have a league with all the fighter under it ufc-ish but they failed mostly because they didn't make the matchups the fans wanted to see....

                  great motherfcking post!

the UFC model only works for the UFC. you cant take that model and expect to just take over boxing lmfaaooo. boxing has a 100 year plus history with many entrenched en****** like arum, oscar, don king, dibella, duva, hbo, showtime, then you have the european powers like warren and whoever the fck rules europe and the rest of the world.

UFC didnt really have that. it was UFC, then pride/k1 then not much really.

UFC model only works for the UFC.

I dont know why PBC doesnt have a spokesperson. It doesnt have to be haymon, he can stay private as long as he wants,
but it would really benefit PBC if they had someone, who answers some question or lay out some future plans.

With them being so secretive, its their fault, that everyone is speculating that PBC is broke.

yea PBC failed to consistently deliver compelling fights. Why is that? Well, it goes back to their initial business model of overpaying fighters in order to corner the market
