Two fights a year is ridiculous. Especially considering that one of them fights is almost always a mismatch or tune-up nowadays.

Imagine how many more great fights we'd get if it was the norm to stay active and fight 3-4 times a year.

Oh we would get a lot more. Of course, I don't think this can keep up forever. Haymon will run out of money eventually, or so I hope.

Nothing can be done about it now till this whole PBC thing disintegrates. The damaging effects of overpaying these fighters for meaningless fights are finally being felt.

Obvious reason why fights are not happening is because everyone is rejecting less than $1 million per fight, fact that most of them suddenly became inactive. It can't possibly be a coincidence.

The sport needs new breed of fighters.

3-4 times a year has become an impossibility these days.

lol you guys think Boxers are not human you forget to consider the injuries and training camps they have to undergo and you expect them to fight elite level opposition too?! and another thing there is something called an athletic commision if you get KO depending on the sanctioning body also you have to take time off ( its mandatory ) : Pacquiao has also been suspended from fighting for 120 days or 4 months, and is not allowed to have any contact training for the first 90 days. do you guys realize how long it takes for serious injuries to heal properly?

Lastly the dude mentioning PBC! what a clown...like they rule boxing ; they dont even have good fighters below 122 last time I checked....I could be wrong tho.

They make up the majority. What about Saunders? Tyson Fury? Both are in their twenties, just won titles and aren't defending. Peter Quillen? Andy Lee? Luis Ortiz?

this is why boxing is somewhat of a boring sport
                  Nothing ever happens
You get so many boring mismatches that boxing is barely worth watching unless youre a hardcore

when you are a big name fighter, two fights a year would be the norm. Promoting, injuries etc are some of the factors that would make it two fights a year for you. It would be easier in the early stage of your career to do 6/7 fights or even in the mid of your career to do 4 fights a year.
