It's not that big a deal. In a lot of professions you take a short term loss for future gain. Other fighters have done same and came out ok. GGG is that good he can do same IMO.

I would agree, when there is at least a decent probability of realizing that future gain. However boxing, and all its politics, are WAY too unpredictable IMO to leave that kind of money on the floor expecting "karma" or something to return it to you down the road......

people (such as yourself) are ALREADY criticizing GGG for "turning down" an offer that they havent even received yet lol. Its laughable. DLH kicks the can a year down the road and now makes some ****** reference to a flat fee and you guys are acting as if GGG just turned down $46 billion million gazillion dollars or something........lol

If the offer was $6 million for a fight that should pay $15-$20 million (assuming over a million buys, etc), then yes, its a garbage offer and should be declined. Everyone likes to talk about "oooooo but next fight 50 mills doe" etc etc, but nothing is guaranteed. Knocking out Roy didnt get Tarver a string of 8 figure paydays, and a fighter could very easily suffer a career ending injury in their very next fight, so "donating" $10 million or more to Canelo's retirement account is simply ignorant.......

that isnt the argument. EVERYONE agrees that Canelo is the biggest possible fight for GGG.

The argument some of you are tragically trying to make is that Canelo can make just as much money fighting other fighters, which simply is not true.

He can make just as much money over the course of time. You don't realize how young Canelo is and how old GGG is. Or you're just ignoring it. You know how quickly the game changes. There can be another fighter just as popular as GGG in two years. My point is when you get an opportunity like this at 35 years old you have to take it. The only other PPV fight for him out there is the Ward/Kovalev winner and he's not gonna take this fight. Canelo has another 10 years of earning money and will surpass what he'd make with GGG in 3 or 4 fights. Time is on Canelo's side. GGG has no bargaining strength in this situation and you know it. You're arguing from emotion but when you set the facts on the table you know Canelo has options and GGG doesn't
