GGG got 1.5 million against Willie Munroe and has been making 2 million + for every fight since then. He's getting at least 4 million for Kell Brook.

I think it's very reasonable that Golovkin, as the defending champion, should expect to earn career high money for what would be highest grossing fight of his career.

SRL was a bigger name and a bigger draw than Hagler when they fought each other, but Hagler was the champion and he got the lion's share of the purse - $20 million to SRL's $12.

And he didn't give Leonard a catchweight either.

Well then 2 mill seems low but 50/50 is still ridiculous.

its amazing how the story is starting to change. Initially it was almost 100 percent of people slating canelo (as they should do) for dumping his belt to avoid fighting after calling him out. And yet somehow, the most hardcore ggg haters on this site have managed to twist this whole saga to make out golovkin is responsible for the fight not happening. Now i see more and more people typing this 'golovkins avoiding canelo' **** and believing it, absolute garbage, some of you should think for yourselves instead of believing the propaganda that these obsessed, bitter and twisted haters pump out.

I'm sure G and K2 know they are not getting a 50-50 split. But it's a negotiation. You say that to start, and the other side counters and then you meet in the middle. What do you really expect him to say? His point was...He feels Canelo WILL NOT fight him, and his next tactic to DUCK the fight and get the fans off his back will be to low ball him in negotiations, and then say that G is hard to deal with.

To who? Canelo's fans bought the Khan fight..... GGG's fans bought the Lemieux fight...>They don;t add up to 1 million.

GGG's brand awareness is way bigger now after one year from that fight. Even more after the Brook fight.

Not if they keep the belt. Those offers are made up in 2-3 other fights without getting KTFO in front of EVERYONE. You want $$$ for those type of risks.

Actually GBP is BOTH scared and smart! K2 is just ******! When Ward went to 168, the only legacy building fight for GGG is a fight with Canelo Alvarez! GGG is not Marvin Hagler! There's no Duran, Hearns, and Leonard coming up to fight him anytime soon! There's only Canelo! K2 better call Haymon and make that Lara fight in the meantime!

I wasn't saying the purse was $20 million. I was saying total money generate for the fight and I was just throwing a random number out there. Ok my bad I was replying thinking you were saying he should take a flat 2 million and be happy with it.

Golovkin is going to have a bad time if he refuses to budge on 50/50. At best, he will get 60/40.

They ALL do it for the money! That's why the likes of CanYellow, Floyd, Pac are ALWAYS called out by EVERYONE!!!

Ppl are hating on Pac for not wanting to chase Crawford all around the ring for 12 rounds. I'm glad he chose Vargas instead. Which will be a very entertaining fight instead of Mayweather/Pac 2.0

Personally would of rather seen Pac vs. Thurman/Garcia instead of course...
