IMO, a lot of the critique thrown at Cotto is based on the fact that his fans continue to insist that his name gets mentioned with the true ATGs of his era (Mayweather, Pacquiao) when he's not on their level as far as skill, ability or accomplishment.

Like I said before, in a Peyton Manning/Tom Brady Era, he's the Drew Brees: great career and surefire HOF, but not a generational fighter.

And having his fans make excuses for his (at times) diva like behavior hasn't helped either.

I had to go out of town the next day after posting this. I wanted to give my appreciation for Cotto for the record I guess because he is one of my favorites and I got caught up talking **** to some dumb ass dksab mfers along the way. You aint gotta like him but you cant really take anything away from him unless you are a straight hater or almost full on ******. The dude has put it down from jump. You can throw the diva **** out there if you want and I cant argue with that but most of them go that way. He fought the fights against the scary mfers out there and he won more than he lost. The night he beat Martinez will always be one of my favorite fights I watched live because I didnt think he was going to win. It matters to you maybe that Martinez supposedly wasnt healthy coming in to that fight. That wasnt the line on fight night, Martinez was suppose to be 100% and he blew him out. We can argue about his place as an ATG but that wasnt my point. He is one of the greats of this era and there is no argument there, unless your bias has blinded you.
