How much does it take to be a "legit middleweight"?
Name a single actual middleweight fighter who could actually make 155lbs for a ****ing fight.

You look down any top 10/15 MWs list that you, personally believe to be legit, and there's literally near no fighters who would be able to get down to 155 without damaging themselves.

Jacobs Eubanks, Saunders, Lee, Quillin, Tureano Johnson, and basically any other world-level middleweight would be the driveling ****s if they had to boil down that extra 5 pounds, after already boiling down to barely make 160.

Heck, Gennady Golovkin is so scared ****less about the effect of going below 160, that he and his campo weren't even willing to give up a single ****ing pound to get a fight that would literally pay out about as much money as he's made in his entire pro career so far.

    you played yourself

Cotto and damn sure Canelo had no intentions of fighting at 160 and are both Jr Middleweights. If all he wanted is the belt then why is he still begging to fight Canelo today? If GGG wanted the fight which is bigger then any belt then he should of jumped at the chance to move down in weight and fight Canelo. Instead he and his trainer said numerous times they would not go down in weight. So they are demanding Canelo to do what the punk GGG has refused to do his entire career and that's move up in weight. Tried to demand that the bigger draw and A side fighter move up to 160 just because you say so and fight a 160lber for the first time on your schedule and at a weight that is your advantage not canelo's. So he told you F off you don't want to come down to my weight then you can sit and wait till I move up to 160...which is EXACTLY what GGG has told multiple fighters at 168. Hypocrisy at it's finest. Scared to move up and fight bigger fighters that are a bigger threat so begs smaller fighters to do just that.

This is fight between 2 fighters who have each never fought at each others weight. Canelo fights at 155/154, GGG fights at 160. You want Canelo go down or stop complaining and wait till he moves up to 160.
It's all about "knowing your lane." When Floyd told Canelo "152 or no fight" Canelo went to 152. When Oscar told Bernard Hopkins "157 or no fight" Hopkins came in at 156. You only get so many opportunities in life. GGG already blew one with Ward. Now he has to sit and wait, and as he admitted himself, "time is not on his side!"

The one who played themselves is Canelo, masquerading for several months as a MW champ, saying he wasnt afraid of anyone, calling the real MW champ into the ring, saying that he would fight at 160, then ultimately handing the belt over.

Its like that commercial for the security company. Don't dress up like a bank guard, and then say Oh, I'm only a 'monitor' when a guy with a gun walks in. It doesnt work like that.

I'll answer your question and ask the same courtesy of you. No, I don't think any of the established "legit" MWs can drain down to 155 without severely dehydrating themselves. Saunders, Lemiuex, Jacobs, Johnson, etc all have trouble in my opinion. (maybe Stevens can do it because he's pretty short). That being said, how can we call the former WBC MW champ, a guy that has been fighting in the MW division for 3 years now, anything but a MW?

If you AlWAYS have to come in at 160 and can never get down below 160 the LIMIT it's time to move up in weight. IMO.Everyone is just to FN scared to fight at their NATURAL weight and starve themselves to stay 1-2 classes lower. Lil G could EASILY move up comfortably to 168. Remember the LIMIT is 168.

Canelo has been fighting SWW's at 155. He's never beaten or even fought a TRU MW.

The man weighed165 for the 30 day weigh in and you think he needs to move up? Golovkin keeps himself in shape and has maintained his weight for the last decade

Canelo Alvarez is fighting for a world championship at junior middleweight, in a fight that will easily see 50k people in JerryLand watching, where (even before any of the marketing money is spent on the fight) he'll make at least another $15m-$20m just for showing up.

Gennady Golovkin is heading to the UK, being brought in as the opponent (if what I'm hearing on the fight is legit, Golovkin is simply getting his pay package and none of the actual upside on the event) to fight a world-rated (arguably top 3 147lbers in the world) British welterweight fighter, who also doubles as arguably the best fighter that Golovkin has ever faced in his 10-year run at 160lbs. try again.

Why are you calling Saul Alvarez a "former MW champ"? He's consistently told everyone that he's still a junior middleweight, he's basically fought no higher than the 154lbs +1 "rule" for junior middleweight fights not for world titles/ eliminators, and now (when a 154 title opportunity opens up, after Floyd had already beat Alvarez for two belts at 154) he's back to fighting at junior middleweight.

You've openly acknowledged that no actual world-level middleweight could actually make 155 and fight (with the hedge of maybe 1-2 guys being considered), yet you're saying that Alvarez fighting at 155lbs (a weight you've already said that no actual middleweight can make) makes him a legit MW?
