Which brings me to a good question. Canelo is the Ring MW champion. The rules of Ring Mag dictate that the champion will lose his status as champion if he moves to another division. Canelo is moving down to 154 to challenge Smith for his title. Will Oscar 'strip' Canelo of the Ring Mag MW belt in accordance with their rules?
That is a good question. The Ring's lineal rules clearly state that if a fighter leaves the division he holds a title in, to fight in another division, he forfeits that title. Canelo is is fighting for a SMW title and is openly saying that he is not a MW, so ...

Imo, a new MW lineage should be established, starting with Golovkin. That's the only way to bring some sanity and integrity back to the division.

If this happens that would be yet another title GGG got by not fighting and defeating anyone in the ring.

Which shows that the best boxers in his division know how good ggg is.

And Geale gave up the belt but did eventually fight Golovkin, and we know how that went.

If this is what you take away from it, so be it. I just don't think a 3rd title given to him in the boardroom would be good.

If you can't get guys to fight you, go to another division. Alot of us say go to 168. Some fans say he is a small MW and can go to 154. If he wants to stay at 160, fine with me too.

But heck, those are facts, and what do trolls care about facts?
Didn't you say Ward would NEVER fight Kov.???

In your mind you believe Ward ducked GGG. Lol!

Duck the smaller guy and get in the ring with a BIGGER, higher RANKED P4P boxer who ACTUALLY killed someone in the ring.

Facts like that work for you??!

I didn't say Ward ducked GGG. There can be multiple reasons for a fight between any 2 fighters not happening, without having to resort to "ducking" as the explanation. Match-ups between champions in different divisions rarely happen unless there is big money involved.

Ward hasn't fought Kovalev yet, btw.

The truth of the matter is that Canelo should have never been granted the WBC MW title because Cotto had vacated the title, and the fight was at a CW. This is what started this whole mess to begin with! People fault Canelo, but I fault WBC, Ring, etc. GGG could have all the MW belts, but Canelo still has what he doesn't have, and that's MONEY! GGG needs a big money fight, and without Canelo, his prospects look real bleak. GGG is what Marvin Hagler would be without Duran, Hearns, and Ray Leonard.

I fault Canelo, or his team, for not vacating the WBC belt and the lineal MW title immediately after beating Cotto. That would have been the honourable and also the sensible thing to do, as he clearly had no intention of defending them against GGG at 160, which was a mandated fight.

GGG has his big money fight now, vs Brook in the UK, and more big fights over here could follow on from that. Provided he beats Kell, of course.

I can't help thinking, Golovkin would have been better basing himself in the UK, with Eddie Hearn, than in the US after leaving Germany. If the UK fans had taken him to their hearts he would have earned a fortune from Sky PPV fights by now.

"This my style ... Breeetish style, UK style ... real fighting ... I love this." Lol.
