Do you actually watch pro fights? That pitty pat shyt throwing tons of weak punches leaving yourself open because it's only a 3 round fight doesn't translate to the pros like a slick defensive fighter who makes you miss and when you do land they are grazing blows at best. In a longer fight that Cuban gases out or gets dropped because he leaves himself open so much. Shakur can fight at that pace racking up counter shots making you miss. He ekked by in a short fight with judges who favor high volume punching even if you ain't really landing and there is nothing on the punches. Longer fight with pro judges shakur beats this kid. Shakur pro career is brighter.

Eh, lost to someone he was supposed to lose to in the amateurs.
Don't see the harm done to his reputation. He did pretty good-- just not used to another prodigy dude's speed.

These are the highest level of games

"The average margin of victory for the last 25 years in all major tournaments combined was less than three strokes.
At the Indy 500... the average margin for victory for the past 10 years has been 1.54 seconds.
The winning NBA championship can be as small as 1 point."

You have no idea how Ramirez would have approached the fight if it was 12 rnd pro fight.

He did what he needed to do to win under the rules he was fighting. Thats what great fighters do.

The kid challenged himself to be great at 19 years of age. That's a lot to deal with as a young man. Did you approach any challenges like that at 19? If so, how'd they work out for you?

I applaud the kid. He put his heart and his dreams into that fight and came up short. At least he accepted his defeat like a man. So what if his emotions got the best of him.

Stop making excuses for him; he lost to the better fighter.

That doesn't mean anything. He can start anew in the pros, and that'll give him another chance to shine at the top.

And for all those saying that certain styles can't survive in the pros, I have one name for you: Calzaghe.

Remember what he did to B-Hop?

            Yeah...

No threads praising the winner, the 2x olympic champ because hes cuban.
Somehow it's a mystery that people are talking about Shakur Stevenson on a comments thread for an article about Shakur Stevenson?

If it makes you feel better, I thought he fought a great fight. He put a tremendous amount of pressure on Stevenson to remind him who he was in with. I wish I could say that I can't wait to see him in the pros, but being Cuban, I'm sure he'll just chase four Olympic gold medals.

Stevenson should've let his hands go. Other than round 2, Ramirez dictated the pace the entire fight. He was sobbing uncontrollably but gave Ramirez his props. Glad to see that respect immediately after the fight.

Much respect young man just doing as well as he did against Ramirez probably the best amateur boxer Cuba has right now is incredible. If he translates well to the pros he should be very good.

Exactly. A tantrum? Kid was overcome with emotion; one round separated him and Ramierz... Gold could have easily been his but Ramirez pulled it out.

He was classy and gave the winner his props. People will say anything to detract from a fighter they don't like on here.
