Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson Emotional, Admits Ramirez Beat Him For Gold

The extremely emotional man admitted the better man won. Mere moments following his split-decision defeat to Cuba's Robeisy Ramirez in the 123-pound Olympic gold-medal match Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, American Shakur Stevenson broke down during a post-fight interview with NBC Sports' Chris Mannix.

You definitely have to let your hands go and make it clear who the winner is in these short fights.

Stevenson didn't do that, sadly. Maybe with a little more experience and seasoning things would have gone a bit differently.

Ramirez speed bothered him that's why he didn't let his hands go like he wanted. No shame that Cuban is really good and more experienced at this level.

I didn't see nothing wrong with that. He was sobbing and being honest. He doesn't feel good about losing and said nothing to take away from the Cubans win.

Shakur has the better pro style and will beat that kid in a pro fight. His defense and ability to make fighters miss and only get hit with glancing blows will serve him in the pro game.

I was thinking the same thing. He should be very proud of that accomplishment.
