The truth of the matter is that they needed Broner to sell the fight. After Manny made those remarks about gays his public image took a hit. Having a loud mouth black guy who everyone hates would make Manny look like the good guy again. Good vs. Evil. It was Manny vs. Floyd all over again. That and Broner being an easy win is why they wanted him. Broner knew damn well what they were trying to do and that's why he asked for $10 mil. If you're about to make me play the bad guy I want to get paid like an actor because that's basically what your're doing, paying me to act. Anyone that really wanted to see Pac vs. Broner or think Pac vs. Broner is a better fight than Vargas vs. Pac is the exact type of person they were going after with the Broner fight

People are actually defending Broner? The guy who's in jail for being an absolute moron and who was offered 3x his highest payday?

      Seriously?

exactly. The same morons who spout the "a-side doe" nonsense saying GGG should have taken a 90-10 split at 155 vs Canelo somehow think its just peachy for the idiot Broner to demand $10 mil vs Pac. Its laughable. Quite predictable, but laughable just the same........

So true , this guy is a pure dumb***. He tries so hard to get street cred that he has ruined his career. That would have been a bigger cherry pick than Vargas was. Broner could hardly get a punch off in that fight. It would be like a smaller version of the Pac -Clottey fight.

And we lost all respect for Manny. Three out of four of his last fights, the public did not ask for or want: Algieri, Bradley III and now Vargas. The one fight the public demanded, Mayweather, was an enormous letdown.

Seriously, what does fighting Jesse Vargas prove at this point? The fight will bomb on PPV, and rightly so. There are so many great fighters out there in and around 147, yet Pac is fighting the 9th or 10th best. Jesse Vargas is a nobody, a nothing. This will be a pointless, one-sided fight that does not enhance Pac's legacy one iota. And his shameless swerving of Crawford is unforgivable.

Crawford and his team were all ready to outprice themselves. This is the team that can't fight Postol unless it's PPV.

Very true. In other words, the best eva Floyd can fight Berto without causing too much ruckus, while Pac can't even fight an undefeated belt holder Vargas.

The total purse for Crawford vs. Postol was $1,550,000. The total purse for the whole card was $1,875,000. The reason this fight was on PPV, according to Arum, is because HBO didn't have the money to buy it. It had nothing to do with Crawford's purse. Stop lying

The difference is who would be "selling" the fight. GGG is not someone who would "sell" a PPV to the American public.

Broner, like him or not, would do an incredible job of selling the fight, almost as good a job as Floyd did selling the ODH fight.

I'm not saying he deserves $10 mil. I think its no different then TR paying Tim Bradley more than they did Rios or ALgieiri since Tim had more name value that would push sales higher?

Dude this is a childish response. Why does someone pointing out Broner would sell more PPV's then the other guys and therefore deserves more equate to "defending" Broner?
