Lara brings more to the table, as an actual B-side, than what David Lemieux did and that's beyond obvious; Lemieux's title victory was on FS2 for ****'s sake.
You add that Lara's never been blown out in a fight (and that the boxing public, my self not included though I felt it was close, saw the result of the Alvarez fight in doubt) and HBO has an opponent that they can market, and a fight that ESPN could openly get behind to push.
That's not unreasonable but you are, as usual. Lara is not fighting Ggg for 1m lol, did you watch this interview with Decubas? Doubtful he'd accept 2x that.
Lara brings less than Lemieux ppv wise. Lemieux is a unification, Lara is not. Neither guy brings fans, but at least Lemieux bring an all action rep, and Lara brings rep for running and choking on ppv. Nobody that paid for him vs Canelo is buying a Lara ppv again
Lemieux won his vacant title on FS2, in a fight that maybe 100k people saw, with the last time before that (when a measurable number of people saw him fight on TV) being the KO loss to Marco Antonio Rubio. You add that Lemieux was a 16:1 dog to Golovkin and it's hilarious to see you search for value.
Erislandy Lara has been in feature/main event spots on HBO/Showtime for basically the last 5 years, and is actually seen as being a legit fighter. Kell Brook opened up as a 7:1 dog to Golovkin, and Lara is going to open up significantly closer than that.
For the first time in his life, Gennady Golovkin is going to step into the ring for a pro fight against a fighter with a legit chance to beat him; if K2 can't manage to sell that, they need to close shop.

Lara is a prohibitive underdog just like those guys. Unlike Lemieux he doesn't even have a punchers chance. And based on his only other ppv appearance, he won't even go for it. How's that an easy sell?
K2 have done an amazing, hugely improbable job of building a 30 something Kazakh into one of boxings top stars. Somehow I don't think they take marketing advice from Nsb posters, nevermind those consistently clueless about numbers, boxing, or anything else
Playing pretend lawyer and pretend businessman on the internet is always fun and all, but there's no need for that anymore (for now at least) while the real businessmen are actually talking to each other. They know more than we do. Let them take of it. Glad they're finally negotiating. Loaffler refusing to do that with Ward was the most frustrating thing about that ordeal.
Looks like Lara is finally getting the fight he wants. From the looks of it, this fight could happen late this year or early next year. Who else is there for GGG after his fight with Brook?

Sounds like you're already setting up excuses for Lara passing on a fair offer

Lara will duck the fight like the rest and expose a ton of GGG haters and Lara fan-pretenders.
