But it's not unheard of that a MW would fight a WW. And some WW's have won those bouts. Let's keep it in perspective here. It's world-level boxing vs world-level boxing. That should be enough to get a boxing fan excited. And there is that possibility that Brook acclimates to the weight smoothly.
Why would Ward have a contract to fight Kovalev if he was afraid of Golovkin? Because styles make fights. Kovalev's style is inherently different from GGg's...& Ward's. That's why boxing fans desire it. GGG's style might be that much more dangerous than Kovalev's style just because of his aggression matched with power. I disagree that GGG didn't want to fight Ward. Again, look at the GGG/Rosado fight preview video. And I think that the GGG/Ward fight wasn't made partially because of RocNation's inexperience in negotiations. They're a brand new outfit. And the evidence of their inexperience is not even knowing that GGG already had Lemieux lined up when they sent a counter-offer. Or maybe RocNation knew & sent the offer anyway just to save face in front of Ward's fans. See, the only thing that can vindicate everything Ward & his team has said is the presentation of that email Ward talked about. If you can find & present that email, so many Ward fans (or GGG critics) would get justification. But we have yet to see it...& we might never see it. And that whole thing about FMJ saying GGG needs to fight Ward before he can get him was such a BS proposition that I doubt many boxing fans took it seriously. I mean, come on...he wanted GGG to fight Ward at 168 (or higher), then come back down to 154 to fight FMJ?...to me, it sounds more like FMJ was just putting up roadblocks. It's been said before: if both fighters truly want the fight, then a contract can be drawn up quickly. GGG can't fight boxers who aren't willing.
Also, whatever golovkin said about Ward is meaningless unless he took any steps to get into the ring with him....he didn't, and talk is cheap.

Bottom line is still what I posted, you keep making excuses to what Loeffler has admitted. This is what he was quoted as saying. They had no desire to fight Ward until 2017 as long as he remained at 168. Knowing that Ward was likely going to move up. They said 164. They did not want the fight....the end.

Apologies for the inconvenience to find this video. At 2:58 the question comes up.
I'm not saying that GGG is among the ATG MW's. But the potential is there. And if we're measuring a current boxer to meet up to those historical standards, then yes we would need to compare a little between the great MW's of the past. It's why we instinctively start to think of potential matchups for a great boxer: to see if they can be an ATG. Isn't that true for all weight divisions?
In my opinion, GGG's team ended up playing hardball on the catchweight because Ward's team was playing hardball on the 50/50 purse. That's what I think was the issue. So to say that GGG's team didn't want to fight is stretching the truth a little. In a sense, Ward's team did not want the fight if they did not want to negotiate those 2 sticking points...same for GGG's team. So maybe the answer is somewhere in-between. But from my point-of-view, if an A-side negotiator is offering a contract, it would be a duck for the B-side to not negotiate it better to their liking or worse, walk away from it.

And that was before he even knew that Golovkin had signed to fight Lemieux!Originally posted by Metho_4u View PostLoeffler admits to the whole thing, what's so difficult to understand here? Your ignorance is beyond laughable
Ward is a canny guy. He knows that 99% of his fans are as thick as 2 short planks and will accept any irrational bull**** he comes out with. That's a great example of how ****** you sheep are.

When Loeffler got the offer from Ward he rejected it immediately and told Ward if he wanted to fight GGG at 168 he should send them an offer in 2017, because GGG would be focused on 160 till then.
