Canelo defeated Cotto in a competive fight that some considered a draw and some even a robbery. I did consider Canelo the close but clear winner, 7-5. The thing is, though, Cotto was not supposed to have given Canelo this much trouble.
1: Cotto was 35 years old, the guy was done.
2: Cotto was much smaller and lighter than Canelo, not even being a true middleweight.
3: Cotto had done nothing for years, except losing to Trout and beating an old onelegged Martinez.
This fight was actually one of the few cases where I got the prediction wrong. I overrated Canelo. I thought he would be good enough to KO a small old man like Cotto. I mean, even little Pacquiao could do that. Instead, Canelo struggled and only won due to his size advantage. I was shocked. This fight showed me that Canelo is an extremely limited boxer.
Am I the only one feels that this win meant nothing for Canelo's legacy?
