I relate to what you're going through, I went through it back when they picked Adama. Golovkin's unfortunate pattern is that he always gets painted into corners when it comes to getting opponents.

This is nothing more than a stay busy freak/show type of fight. Brook will likely be more competitive than Geale, Rubio, Wade, or Macklin, and probably even give Golovkin a harder time than Lemieux or Stevens, but his fate is sealed and the result is a given.

However the upside of Golovkin getting a high-profile fight in the UK (and prime time across Europe) does outweigh a stay busy defense vs Khurtsidez/Lee/Korobov. Golovkin beats one of those guys in September, it doesn't do anything towards getting him a fight with Eubank, Saunders, Jacobs, DeGale, or Canelo. But selling out the O2 in London and doing good UK ppv can. He needs big name, credible opponents, generating some good money-metrics vs Brook will go further than another KO vs a decent MW. Consider this fight lemonade at a premium.
I just made the same point in another thread. If GGG/Brook does well on Sky, and the UK main stream fans like what they see of Golovkin - which I'm sure they will - that will make big fights like GGG vs Saunders, DeGale, Eubank, Groves etc much more likely to happen.

I don't think he can keep fighting no hopers and use the prospect of a future Alvarez fight as an excuse. I could barely stomach Ward's fight against Brand knowing that he's signed to fight Kovalev after it.

he's fought six guys in the top 10. tried to fight virtually every MW he hasn't knocked out yet.

he's not fighting no hopers, and he really doesn't need an excuse when he's fighting top 10 middleweights. lemiuex, geale, murray, macklin, they're really not awful fighters. nobody to write home about, and nobody who will be remembered in 10 years, but it's not like golovkin's team are staying at middleweight and cherrypicking garbage. they're trying to get the big fights, and when those don't materialize they've been fighting mandatories

now, a welterweight is pathetic, and we;re in agreement. if he's goign to fight WWs and wait for canelo then we'll call a spade a spade. that aint right.

Are you serious? You really don't think Brook makes it past the 3rd round unlike Macklin, Geale, Rubio, or Wade? No wonder your upset. I'll take a life-time ban bet with you that Brook makes it past the 3rd round.

Also you don't think Brook lands more shots on GGG per round than Lemieux or Stevens? Golovkin won't be able to control Brook with just his jab like he did with Curtis or David, that hilarious to even suggest that. No I guarantee you this fight will be more dynamic than the Lemieux or Stevens fight. Brook might not last 8 rounds, but he'll give Golovkin a much more difficult time than either Stevens or Lemieux did. I'll also take a life-time ban bet with you that Brook land more shots per round than either Stevens or Lemieux.

The thread starter Contra and the poster known as Golovkin, are just such a superb example of a real fan and a weird fanboy fanatic.
True fans criticise the people/teams they are fans of, because they believe in the talent and potential...
For example, I was fond of Brook before this fight was announced, and now I am less fond as I know that this fight is a cash out and he really doesn't want to fulfil his potential of becoming a great fighter at 147 and 154...
The poster Golovkin thinks he is a fan because he spends money on merchandise and is supportive no matter what decisions his team/fighter make, he will swallow it all.
A real fan wants his fighter to be the best that they can be because he knows they can be great, and is disappointed when that fighter isn't giving their best effort to become what they can be... and a fanatical weird fanboy (like the Golovkin poster) just basically dreams about their fighter one day talking to them or meeting them or something.. and they are deluded into believing the person they support is infallible and immune to criticism, because essentially they don't care what their fighter does... they are just in love.
And that is really it... one type of fan is just that, a fan who wants to see his fighter doing well and reaching the goals that they believe they can accomplish... and the other type of 'fan' is really just a person who is an obsessed guy/girl who is actually in love with their fighter.
          It is interesting stuff really.
