I relate to what you're going through, I went through it back when they picked Adama. Golovkin's unfortunate pattern is that he always gets painted into corners when it comes to getting opponents.

This is nothing more than a stay busy freak/show type of fight. Brook will likely be more competitive than Geale, Rubio, Wade, or Macklin, and probably even give Golovkin a harder time than Lemieux or Stevens, but his fate is sealed and the result is a given.

However the upside of Golovkin getting a high-profile fight in the UK (and prime time across Europe) does outweigh a stay busy defense vs Khurtsidez/Lee/Korobov. Golovkin beats one of those guys in September, it doesn't do anything towards getting him a fight with Eubank, Saunders, Jacobs, DeGale, or Canelo. But selling out the O2 in London and doing good UK ppv can. He needs big name, credible opponents, generating some good money-metrics vs Brook will go further than another KO vs a decent MW. Consider this fight lemonade at a premium.
      Why can't coward move up?

I am with you on this.. I have been a GGG fan since he turned pro & saw his loss in the olympics too.. The guy has got some serious talent & is humble genuinely & I feel he has what it takes to be the top 5 best MWs.. But this fight is a sham..
I never wanted him to fight Lara for the same reason as Brook, too small & not much credit.. Even if he wins he loses what he has gained..
Lara, or any other Jr.MW have not had any fights to see & get a grip in MW.. Brook has never fought at Jr.MW & is directly jumping to MW.
I am of the opinion that you jump stage by stage not just take a leap of faith.. The last guy who took this big a leap in weight got checked into the hospital after the fight for getting knocked out cold as a cucumber..

Brook is a big guy at WW & imo might move to Jr MW soon as he has been saying he goes through hell to make weight.. (That's not a reason to accept the fight though)

While I like GGG & what K2 had done for him so far.. Its high time K2 realize that they are not getting away with mismatches over mismatches(non mandatory ones).. They aren't big with $ so they can never pay $$ to greedy fighters.. But pulling out a Brook because Eubanks did not agree was pulling a con in broad daylight..

I am going by what I am seeing & this a pure money fight for K2.. But they predict a different picture in the media, but nobody wants to admit its all about the $..
My concern is, will this be followed by another pathetic match up because of the reasons they couldn't get big fights & that they have a date to meet..

          This assertion is beyond ridiculous.

Were you able to type that with a straight face?

As an avid Golovkin fan that steps up to defend him whenever I can, I have been absent from this board ever since the fight was announced. There have been so many threads over the last few days, but I've remained silent.

You wanna know why? It was out of sheer fúcking embarrassment.

I simply cannot fathom why you would want to make a fight with Kell Brook. Fighting a marginally well-known undefeated champion means precisely **** if the guy is two divisions south and has no chance to win.

This a step backward, and actually damages Gennady's career and legacy in the eyes of boxing fans, especially considering the lackluster opponents he has fought lately. I'm well aware that guys have been ducking Golovkin left and right, but this is not going to help the situation. Take a look around NSB. Even his biggest fans are finding it hard to swallow this shítty turn of events.

To be honest, I hold you, Tom Loeffler, personally responsible for stifling this great fighter's career over the last two years due to chasing fights with guys you know good and well had absolutely no intention of getting in the ring with him.

As soon as Cotto beat Martinez and didn't agree to fight right away, that should've been it. Right at that moment, Gennady should have begun preparing to move to 168, eventually culminating in a fight with Andre Ward. But no.. you ássholes kept holding out for a big payday.

Your greed has fúcked the career of a man who could've been seen as one of the greatest MWs of all time.

At this point, a fringe contender at 168 would be a far better choice than a fúcking WW with one quality win. A fight at 168 would be interesting simply because of the questions that would be answered. How will he hold up against a bigger guy? Will his power be the same? Will his chin be able to handle punches from a SMW? After that, he can fight a serious contender, then go for a belt. That would satisy his fans, as well as many of his ardent detractors.

If you care about Gennady Golovkin in the least bit, please stop this fight and find another opponent. His legacy depends on it.

so you thought he could be one of the best mws ever, yet you want him to move to 168 lbs?

while canelo is at or just barely below 160 lbs, and his people are literally saying "we will fight in 2017," they are not going to move him up in weight.

yes, it's worse for the sport that one of its pound for pounders is not getting big fights, but you have to recognize that nobody would promote, or fight, if they didn't do it for the money, and really, for the most money.

"oh, well i'll invest in this guy, and build him over the course of several years, but i only want my investment to pay off a little bit. let's cut it real close. who needs money, anyway?"
-is this what you want the promotors to say? the networks? the fighters and their managers?

"let's cut it close, guys, cuz 5 people on NSB want me to fight zurdo ramirez, and give up the chance of fighting saul alvarez in the biggest fight in boxing."

you guys confuse business with greed. they're different things. you need to consider your books first if you're running a business. first. not last, not in the middle, first. maybe you need to run a business to understand that.

nobody comes out of the woodwork to pay your bills if you're a fighter or a promotor. most of you guys don't even buy PPV or premium network TV. the ship will sink. and then there'd be no boxing.

what you are doing, at face value, is a good thing. just make sure you don't buy the fight, or watch it on HBO if you're american. that's the best message you can send.

just don't expect a promotor to move his guy up a division when he's the most worthy challenger to the most popular fighter in the sport, canelo alvarez.

I don't think the Alvarez fight is something he can wait for anymore, OP obviously doesn't think that fight will happen because GBP are not about to make that fight unless they think Canelo can win or if they suddenly have another main flag man boxer and can afford to have Canelo take the loss to GGG.

I don't think he can keep fighting no hopers and use the prospect of a future Alvarez fight as an excuse. I could barely stomach Ward's fight against Brand knowing that he's signed to fight Kovalev after it.

Are you a boxing fan or just a troll?

You realize that Casinos have Brook as "only" a 1:5 underdog, Wade was like 1:35, Eubank and Saunders were 1:9 underdogs.

You didn't see Brook fighting at all did you? He walks around at a higher weight than GGG right now. He kills himself making 147.

You should focus your dissappointment and hatred towards all the so called top guys ducking GGG.

Tell me your list of fighters that would have stepped into the ring with GGG in 8 weeks.

You ladies need to calm down and decide what you really want. When he can't secure big fights, you people whine that he is not A side. When he tries to build himself so he can be a big star, you whine that its not a fight you want. We all know come september, you nerds will be glued to the tv to watch the fight and cheer for Brook. That exactly why its a good fight. Controversy sells.
