With the disappointing revelation of IV Gate for Floyd, he's not even eligible to be considered an ATG. Just a cheat. Shame, cuz he had talent but didn't believe in his natural abilities enough to stay clean.
I can't imagine how he would do that. He's got 3-5 years left at the top level in the best case. He could potentially become a strong HOF candidate but that's probably about it.
He's an absolute master piece of a fighter in his own rights...
But his age and just other factors in boxing prevent that.
He'll be big enough to be a good and established name by the end of is career, but of course,
the question would be:
what if?
since he's more likely to retire in less than a decade.
He hasn't really fought anyone of note since his HBO debut.
And it's been a pretty long time. It's kind of weird how the middleweight division is this weak though--it's like one of the most popular, and well, if statistically put on a bell curve, it serves as the peak in terms of men's average body.
Move to 168 and become undisputed. This pushes him to ATG status.
Move to 175 and beat the kingpin at 175. This pushes him to God status.
If he did all that, I would put him ahead of Mayweather. That said. The odds of it happening are about on par with me having sex with Kate Upton. So I guess I'm rooting for at least one miracle.
If he becomes undisputed at 160, then becomes undisputed at 168 and then get few belts/good names at 175 then he would be close. Abel said the most GGG can go upto career at a later stage would be 175. Provided the elegance, fear factor and dominance he has brought into his play he has a shot but its very long long ladder to climb given all the things work out his way.
Not only is Floyd P4P for damn near over a decade, but he also has beaten all the big names of his era, claimed titles in 5 weight classes, achieved the highest PPV and Live Gate in the history of boxing, biggest media personality in the sport since Tyson, and currently dominating the sport business wise along with his illusive advisor Al Haymon. How the heck can Golovkin even come close to comparing with that?
^^^^^this here. They are doing a good job inflating his accomplishments to get him in though.....16 "title" defenses....what title?
unified middleweight champion....2/3 belts handed to him.
great talent, being wasted...time to step on the gas k2
you literally can't muster any objectivity about golovkin. blame the guys who are ducking him, not "k2 not stepping on the gas." k2 is stepping on the gas, you clown. how is trying to get the biggest fight in boxing, and the MW champion of the world, not stepping on the gas? they wouldn't have stepped on the gas for cotto? martinez? chavez? quillin? jacobs? ndam? sturm?
you just want golovkin to move up in weight, and will give him to credit until he does. then you'll discredit the guys at 168. you want him to lose, not to get the fights that make the most sense for him and for boxing.
if golovkin is moved properly he can be a candidate for ward - kovalev in a megafight in time. making that a megafight requires a victory over canelo alvarez. golovkin will not have the kind of drawing power without it. you're also talking about about leaving the bigger fight behind to chase the smaller one. again, this makes no sense, unless you're simply matching golovkin as poorly as you can in an attempt to make him lose. which you are. because you're a fanboy / "a hater."
you're a hater.
you're a golovkin hater.
that's what you are. the word that has come into use over the last couple of decades is personified by what you do. it's all you do. what you do is toxic to the objective discussions taking place on this forum.
you've got to be completely insane to blame k2 for "not stepping on the gas" when they're trying as hard as they can to get the biggest fight in boxing. that's insane. you're a hater, and insane.

Im a hater because a told the truth...i'll be that
he wont get into the hall of fame being handed belts and not fighting elite opponents
newsflash...GGG is not the only fighter who has trouble finding top notch opponents.....lame excuse....that horse is past dead...stop riding it
where did I lie..did he win all his belts in the ring? does he have 16 title defenses...HELL NO
you dont get credit for fights that dont happen..same for any other fighter in history
if his resume wasnt so thin they wouldnt have to make up records
stop being being cry baby and deal with the truth
k2 should be smart and come out of pocket...you cant pay top fighters what you pay no name manadatories...it is prizefighting you know
