By a show of hands, who defended Pac refusing random tests/40 mil, but attack Jacobs?

Did you miss the part where haymon ingrained boxers with the idea that they can fight bums for big bucks?
Thats why such a huge amount of boxers signed with him.
Anyone with half a brain knows that the structure of fighting bums for big bucks is unsustainable. You cant expect a business to turn profit if you overpay your employees, sell a bad product, cant keep costumers, fail to improve, and recklessly overspend.
Umfortunately boxers are not very smart. All they saw was that if floyd can fight bums for big bucks, then i want that. They couldnt see they were cripling the sport in the long run. Most of the big names in pbc have only fought once this year, and when pbc goes under things will get really ugly.
Some will go to showtime but it will take some time for showtime to regain its boxing credibility. Jacobs/quillin and degale/bute couldnt do 400,000 viewers. This means a big cut in their paycheck and they will have to fight the best in their division.
They cant really count on getting much time on hbo. Budget is limited due to the lack of profitability created by their outrageous demands. Wilder, thurman, spence, and santa cruz might get airtime but the rest dont stand much of a chance.
The rest will have to find a second or third job while boxing regains stability. Serves them for being money hungry divas.
However its not fair to judge all boxers like that. Some have shown desire to achieve glory. Loma fought for a belt against salido in his second match, and won a belt against russell jr in his third. He would also have participated in fights with walters and rigo but they chose to duck. Cant blame rigo too much because i think hes small even for 122.
Kovalev has fought cleverly, hopkins, pascal, and soon ward. The pimp and beterbiev also recieved offers. The pimp went into protective service, and beterbiev stated he needs more time as a pro.
As for golvkin i dont see how he can be seen as a businessman. Sure he ended up fightin brook, but that was only after failed negotiations with three other opponents that were all in the top 5 of his division. Canelo said mexicans dont mess around, and shortly after gave ggg the belt without battle.
Saunders said some things about how he didnt think the fight was feasible even if ggg went to the uk. Then again he also said ggg would beat him and eubank jr on the same day. Eubank jr messed around for a while, and apparently his dad wanted a huge paycheck and actual control of the event. In the end eubank jr never found his pen.
Dont even mention Jacobs. The guy said the fight needed a year and a half to marinate and that he wanted 4-5 millions.
Also the very corrupt wba never ordered the ggg/jacobs fight like they said they would if golovkin/canelo didnt take place. The fight might happen in december but rest assured it wasnt in jacobs plans. He clearly said the fight needed 1 1/2 years to build and that he wanted 4-5 millions.
Pretty sure haymon told him to take the fight or he will go hungry because pbc doesnt even have 7 months of life left. Now jacobs is saying he wants the fight and that his expected purse will be reasonable.
So golovkin negotiates with three of the top five fighters in the division. Canelo hands over his belt without a fight. Saunders admits he would be defeated, and Eubank jr wastes everyones time and doesnt sign. The other top guy in the division says he'll fight after more than a year.
So golovkin wastes months trying to negotiate with the top guys at 160. Its already july, half the year has gone by and hes only had 1 fight, when normaly he has 3 a year. At 160 he beat everyone of importance except for the top 4 that are ducking. Only other recognizable fighters at 160 are quillin and lee.
Lee is coming off a loss, couldnt make weight two fights ago, and loss to a guy like brian vera. Quillin is coming off a stoppage loss, has ducked golovkin and other boxers before and fights for haymon. Not credible, too long to negotiate, and not in the budget.
At 154 every important guy is managed by haymon except for cotto, and andrade. Cotto wont go to 160 to take another vicious beating. Pacquiao and margarito both beat him to near death at 147. At 160 Golovkin would be charged with the murder of Cotto. The andrade fight is a good one, but andrade had fought a month prior and says he wants to clean 154 before fighting golovkin.
So after all this hassle when hearns tells golovkin he can get 5 million to fight brook, and that brook was ready to sign right now im sure golovkin thought this is a no brainer.
The guys at 160 dont want to fight. Making the fights at 154 is nearly impossible because except for may/pac, a joint ppv which generated more than 4 mil buys, the big names in hbo dont fight in pbc and vice versa. Plus hbo wont be able to pay the mountains of money pbc fighters demand. On top of all that golovkin has an exclusive hbo contract.
So golovkin could either take the 5 million and fight brook, or sit it out and only fight twice that year. Canelo had just fought a guy two divisions smaller, and its not impossible for a boxer to move up two divisions and beat the top guy at that division. Hopkins did it when he moved from middleweight to light heavyweight and beat Antonio Tarver.
Jacobs, cotto, canelo, saunders, martinez, eubank jr, walters, quillin, the pimp stevenson, danny garcia, andre dirrell, andre ward, mayweather, leo santa cruz, and carl frampton are examples of business men.
Golovkin fighting the top welterweight because the top 4 of his division are ducking, and his contract wont let him fight the top fighters at 154 isnt ducking. It happened because of three failed negotiations with the real cowards.Comment

Let me be straightforward and clear with you.
We're talking about GGG. We're not talking about the entire PBC roster and what they're paid. We're not talking about BJS. We're talking about GGG being a businessman. Why are you trying to put the blame on so many other people other than Golovkin?Last edited by Chollo Vista; 09-24-2016, 08:58 AM.Comment

You see it in the thread title.
I know who you all are. I find it mighty hypocritical of you guys to attack Jacobs trainer for asking for 4-5 mil to fight GGG, but defended Pacquiao for years when he refused random blood and his biggest purse of the time which was 40 mil.
That's right, Floyd offered Manny 40 mil to fight Floyd, Manny refused and you same guys comforted Manny while calling Floyd the ducker. Now that Jacobs is simply asking for 4-5 mil, now he's the ducker.
You replace Daniel Jacobs with someone who's lighter complected and a different name and you same guys would be here defending his honor like you did from 09-15.
Why such a dichotomy in expectations for one fighter and disdain for the other?
I never was one to defend Pac during the whole May-Pac battle as I felt that those negotiations were really a pissing match between the two, with both at fault at various points.
However, if you can't see the difference between Pac turning down $40mil and Jacbos requesting $4-$5 mil then I don't know what to say. Who are we to tell a fighter what they are worth?
We are fans. True, I will never say that someone who takes punches to the face for a living HAS to do one thing or the other in their careers. But we as fans can assess what we believe to be reasonable. Given what May-Pac wound up generating in revenue, in hindsight $40mil sure seemed like a low offer to Pac. On the other hand, given what GGG brings to the table money wise and what I believe a GGG-Jacobs fight would generate in revenue, $4-$5 mil seems like that is asking too much. Jacobs himself has also been in the past relatively vocal about avoiding a GGG fight (not necessarily recently, but it shows that there was a time when he admitted wanting to avoid it for the time being).
Some people just have a hard time when others say 'GGG is not that big of a star' and 'GGG is overrated' while at the same time defend fighters demanding multiples of career high paydays to fight him.
I'm not one of these people that believes GGG brings an unbelievable amount of money to the table. He is one of the top stars of boxing no doubt, but money generation wise pales in comparison to May/Pac/Canelo/etc.Comment

Because Al haymon and the pbc roster changed the rules of the game.So you type all that schit to say GGG being a businessman is somehow Al Haymon's fault even though GGG isn't a business man.

No one fought golovkin because they all wanted to be paid haymon stle. He tried to fight the challenging fights but no one wanted to be a part of it.
Your options are:
1) Making 5 milion dollars fighting brook and increasing your exposure in the uk.
2) Sit on you ass and do nothing.
One decision allows you to fight, make money, get new fans, and improve your uk profile. This in turn makes fights with saunders and eubank jr easier to make.
The second decision will slow your momentum, you wont fight, and you wont get paid at all.
If you tried you tried to make the tough fights, and your options are to fight or sit it out then i dont think its fair to label it as bizznezz man.Comment

There you go again blaming GGG being a business man on someone else instead of accepting the fact that GGG and his team are business men.
Up until early this year and possibly with Jacobs, Golovkin has had no contact with Haymon fighters. None.
Why you're up here saying GGG being a business man is because of a mute manager that has absolutely nothing to do with Golovkin is pure idiotic.
I expect nothing more from a GG cuck such as yourselfComment

Pac was actually worse. Why?
Because Pac turning down that fight that was in the queue for 6 years was the biggest obstacle to making the biggest fight in boxing history. That's HUGE.
And for the record, no one knows how much Jacobs asked for in the preliminary negotiations. No one.
Jacobs vs Golovkin isn't anywhere close to the magnitude of May vs Pac. The fact that Pac turned down his biggest pay day and prohibited the biggest fight in boxing history from happening because he wanted to be a businessman isn't even in the same sentence to Danny Jacobs just asking to get paid vs Golovkin.
And then to make matters worse, we have GGG doing the same thing against Canelo. Team GGG turn down 8 figures due to being businessmen. But no one else is allowed to talk business around hereComment

You still have 5 more jacobs threads to make today or they wont pay you.You see it in the thread title.
