I've got no beef with Ward staying busy and getting the payday which he is contractually owed by HBO in exchange for his agreeing to the Kovalev fight in November.

In fact I hope Ward's strategy here is to pull up a smaller guy and try to knock him out since that would help hype up the PPV showdown with Kovalev—a fight which *richly deserves* attention from the casual fans (and impressive KOs help to generate that).

Now that you can see I'm not trying to hate on Ward, let's be real. Chilemba is a very good light heavyweight with a respectable résumé ... but comparing Chilemba to Brand??? Let's not go overboard here lol!!
What makes Chilemba "very good" as opposed to decent or respectable?

Ahh ha ha. Exactly, you can't argue that GGG or Kovalev has a better resume than WARd (and its not even kinda close) so you have to pop-off and show your b1tch ways. I can see you're a real winner in the game of life. Just relax kiddo, Kovalev will get whipped by Ward in due time. And its just too bad that GGG wants absolutely nothing to do with the Son of God, as the result is a foregone conclusion of GGG's aura of invincibility.

You know what sucks about GGG and Kovalev fans? Just like Pacquiao fans, they make people dislike great fighters. I like watching Kovalev and GGG, and I think they're great fighters, but you obnoxious, trolling, d1ck-riding, bandwagon fans make it difficult to enjoy their work. I just can't wait for the tears and excuses to flow once Ward beats Kovalev, so I'm guilty of playing along.

With sublime skill and a polarizing persona, Floyd Mayweather became the face of boxing and the world's highest-paid athlete, cementing him as our top pound-for-pound boxer of the last 25 years.

"ESPN asked its panel of boxing experts to rank the top 25 pound-for-pound boxers of the past 25 years. " - And the winner is...

            FLOYD MAYWEATHER.

Middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez's impressive KO victory over Amir Khan didn't help him much on ESPN's pound-for-pound list.

There is no way Ward is going to actually go through with the Kova fight... Ward hasn't fought a decent opponent since he drained a washed up Dawson... This opponent here will drive his own cab to the arena come fight night.

I guarantee Ward gets "injured" in this fight or in training camp...

If I can find somewhere in Vegas to take my action, I'd make that bet right now...

Pick your favorite adjective, I don't particularly care. The point I was making is that Chilemba is a Top-10/Top-15 contender at Light Heavyweight. He drew with Bellew once (could have easily been twice), has a win over dangerous punchers like Edison Miranda & Denis Grachev. He's a lot better than your typical "stay-busy opponent" and will be a good name on Kovalev's résumé if Kovalev manages to beat him (and especially if Kovalev stops him, as Chilemba has never been stopped).

I like how the writer tries to boost up Brand, like he is an actual LHW. The man has never fought a full pound over the SMW limit, but somehow, somebody thinks this will be good prep for Kovalev
