Fighters show interest in fighting Golovkin through social media, yet when the time comes they seem to ask for more money than they're worth.
Danny Jacobs said he wanted at least $3M to fight Golovkin, despite that figure being well over 2x the amount of his highest pay day. We all know Lara is going to just come over accept $1M when he's fighting bums like Zaveck for the same amount on Showtime.
If fighters accepted 500K to fight Golovkin, like Wade did, the fights would be easily made. But they don't want that. Because despite how 'easy' they think the fight will be against him, they want to make sure they cash out.
With K2 having $3m to work with on a Golovkin fight card, it's odd to me that K2 doesn't even seem interested in putting forward an offer.
Golovkin's not going to fight for free, but the fact that no one even questions Golovkin's seeming insistence of not giving up a nickel to even try to make the best fights possible for him is odd to me.
Erislandy Lara has made million dollar purses in all of three fights as a pro (vs Alvarez, vs Rodriguez, and likely vs Zaveck); for a chance to, in one fight, pick off three world title belts and launch his name into the casual conversation in a fight that he seems to believe he can win, Lara's not going to bother with talking about the fight for $500k but it's not going to take $1m to bring him over (unless the fight is PPV, as which he'd be in great position to ask for a piece of the upside on the event beyond the 150k PPV buys that Golovkin has done with a basically unknown opponent).
Golovkin has never made more that $2m on a fight (even counting his PPV); using your same logic, what is Golovkin's ground to ask for more than $2m to fight Canelo then?

Golovkin has made over $2m on maybe 3 fights in his entire career; if the Matchroom Sport money grab falls through, I doubt Golovkin's next fight gets him $2m.
Amir Khan got $6m to fight Alvarez; if Golovkin didn't "need those suckers", I doubt he would still be pleading for a fight against a junior middleweight after he got handed the belt that he was claiming his only interest in the fight was about, lol.

Canelo is a PPV STAR but ducked his biggest PPV of today. Im pretty sure GGG is doing just fine money wise. He aint begging Canelo, the true competitive fight would be Jacobs vs GGG, but we know Jacobs wants a good payday. Does HBO enough money to pay Jacobs?
Heck, the Khan fight did three times the business.

160 isnt the only weight class in boxing yet...they wont fight Canelo at 155 but would make 154 for floyd....wouldnt fight Ward at 168 but would fight froch and chavez jr there
these mfers got you mind ****ed if you think they arent playing the risk vs reward ratio....there is two sides to every story
They need to get their weight up, as in $$$ up.
Canelo vacated his title to avoid fighting GGG next and now his team is saying 'possibly' in a 15 months from now. Thats GB/ Canelo's demand--- NOT Team GGG. Not once did GB or Canelo say "if GGG drops to 155 we can make the fight in September or next May". The weight demand was not even on the table since Canelo and GB had zero intention to fight him this fall no matter what. Don't you think that if GB said to GGG "come down to 155 and we will fight you this fall", that team GGG would hesitate to agree? They would sign on the dotted line in less than a second! When Canelo was the WBC champion, the WBC rules stipulated that he couldn't enforce a catchweight on GGG, since GGG was the mandatory challenger. After Canelo vacated, there was sudden silence from GB of "come down to 155 and we will make the fight happen". Clear Duck
BJ Saunders- Offered a career high purse, turned it down claiming he wasn't compensated enough. Clear duck.
Jacobs- Just recently stated on fighthype.com that he wants to possibly fight GGG in a 'year to a year and a half from now", yet he fights Sergio Mora again in a fight that no one asked for. Clear case of avoiding GGG as long as possible.
GGG is a middleweight fighter and no top middleweight has tried to fight him in the ring. Cotto, when he was WBC MW champion, paid GGG step aside money twice and Canelo paid step aside money once, to put off their fights with GGG.
154, 168lb boxing divisions are not GGGs divisions- He's a full fledged MW, who will be undisputed MW champ probably next year.
Please explain, why the fighters in the MW divison, fighters at his weight, are doing their best to avoid fighting him so bad??

And in boxing, the fighter gets paid what is on their bout contract even if the fight doesnt sell 1 ticket or 1 PPV buy. But by your logic, since Arum put up the money for Pac-Bradley 3 maybe he really didnt lose any money. Maybe he paid himself first lol
In every business I've ever had, I am the one who gets paid last. After all these years it seems Im doing it wrong lol
If I as an investor, invest in a company and that company sells. Who do you think gets paid first? Me or the people who do the work?
I can tell you it's me and if you try and deny it you simply don't know anything about business whatsoever.
If Sky, Mathroom put up millions of $s to secure a venue, the promotion etc etc, Eubank will no doubt have a guaranteed fee. That fee is not what we're discussing.
What Eubank wants is that the PPV money first goes toward the fighter and not securing he business expenses, which makes absolutely zero sense to the business.
Don't try and tell me otherwise, because it would be delusional.
Your example is also not at all comparable to this situation. My example however, is exactly like this situation.Last edited by LacedUp; 06-28-2016, 02:37 AM.

Quillin never wanted it and is fat these days.
