K2 is in a position now with HBO where they've got a pretty decent budget to work with when finding guys to fight yet no mention of Erislandy Lara, Demetrius Andrade, or a host of other fighters who are ready to step in.

David Lemieux was coming off of a fight where, with both fight promoters working to give him every single advantage possible (fight in Montreal, Montreal judges, the ring going from a 18x18 to barely a 15x15 on the day of the fight, etc), yet still lost 6 rounds to Hassan N'Dam on the night; revisionist history doesn't work when folks have the source materials.

Lastly, Chris Eubank Jr only even started throwing hands, as an amateur, in 2007; he's not even a 5-year pro at this point.

To sit and try to compare his competition to a fighter who's a 10-year pro, was at the top amateur level for his last 5 years as an amateur, and was likely boxing well before then, and to have their competition levels be basically on par, is laughable.
How much do you think those guys are going to demand?

Fighters show interest in fighting Golovkin through social media, yet when the time comes they seem to ask for more money than they're worth.

Danny Jacobs said he wanted at least $3M to fight Golovkin, despite that figure being well over 2x the amount of his highest pay day. We all know Lara is going to just come over accept $1M when he's fighting bums like Zaveck for the same amount on Showtime.

If fighters accepted 500K to fight Golovkin, like Wade did, the fights would be easily made. But they don't want that. Because despite how 'easy' they think the fight will be against him, they want to make sure they cash out.

Show us where Danny said that.

Why the hell would a Champ take Wade-type money???

Champs have made less and I'm evaluating Lara based off his recent duds.

The problem is that Haymon has spoiled Lara and he's been laughably overpaid to put up terrible ratings. So obviously he's not going to accept what he's actually worth against Golovkin, and he's going to end up demanding an unrealistic figure of probably $1.5M and the fight will get scrapped.

        • GGG should really consider 154 since its hot, lots of fights

Lara has been fighting better guys than GGG.

If anybody is spoiled it's one that stayed in the amateurs long after fighters with ambition and balls turn pro.

Fighters all say the same thing about k2...they throw low-ball numbers at you.

This is irrelevant... It's about ratings. You should know that.

When Golovkin Wade does 1.3M and Lara-Vanes 2 does 491K, then you kinda know who is who and who is not.

Golovkin is so popular that he's thirsting badly to head to anyone else's market to actually make a payday.

Andre Ward brings Golovkin the opportunity to actually prove his worth in the sport, rather than continue with the perception of simply being some monster happy to keep on crushing cans for the rest of his career (note that Andre Ward being America's last male Olympic gold medalist in boxing, Ward's ability to get out there and market the fight to the US audience, ESPN picking up on Ward-Golovkin being a true 50/50 fight that they can push on their air, and Ward coming to the table with some money supporting him as well makes the distinct case that Ward isn't coming into such fight hat in hand).

'Canelo' Alvarez "doesn't bring enough money" yet Amir Khan, even if he only ended up making the rumored guaranteed, walked away with a payday that is at least 3 times the money than Golovkin's ever made on a fight in his life. Cotto-Alvarez, once all of the revenues from the event are added up, likely did near $100m in total business (likely with the fighters/promoters splitting up $40m-$45m).

If the rumors are true, Gennady Golovkin is on his way to fighting a bout in the UK where he's literally bringing very little money to the table (Sky Sports is going to push the heck out of the fight to drive up their PPV business, Eddie Hearn will promote the fight hard, and Golovkin and his camp are responsible for bringing Golovkin over, hoping that HBO lays out some serious money to air the fight in the US, and hope that K2 can interest some German broadcaster to throw in a good amount of money as well).
Ward was pound for pound and never made big money. What was the GGG vs Canelo agreement? 90 -10 purse in favor of CANelo at 155. If GGG needed those suckers he would had done anything like Amir Khan did. He gets money from other places, his country and sponsors APPLE and JORDAN.

It's about ratings to the bean-counters in accounting....but for boxing fans even the boxers...it's about WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING.

GGG vs Lara would do way better than GGG vs Lara.

Canelo didn't need GGG and he basically told that sucker,I don't need you to make big money.

Canelo is the A side like Oscar was in negotiations with Hopkins.

B-Hop...a guy taller than Golovkin... realizing his B side status(unlike GGG) made the catch weight....

If only GGG had that type of ambition....that's not surprising for a guy that stayed in the amateurs so long they damn near had to sign a binding resolution to get him out.

GGG doesn't like heat.He stayed in the amateurs for 350 fights just to avoid it.
