Has smith ever fought anyone ranked in the top 10?

Some people here like to rag on GGG's level of opposition...again...who is Liam Smith?
Let's be clear Smith is better then Wade who GGG just fought and Eubank who he is trying to fight next. Dude has a belt and according to ESPN rankings right now is higher ranked then Eubank and Wade ain't even in nobodies top 10 ranking now or at the time he fought GGG.

Smith will last longer than Khan, but that didn't really mean anything.
i'm not sure he will. he comes straight forward, has slow handspeed, punches wide, and falls in when he punches. seems like the perfect opponent for counter-elo to score another nice ko against unless he has a pretty good chin which he prob doesn't judging by his brother paul lol

Let's be clear, it's pretty bad that you have try and justify Smith by noting GGG's mandatory and the fact that 'the Dude has a belt'. GGG fights 3-4 times a year, and yeah, to keep all his belts he occasionally has to fight a Wade. And when he does it, it's HBO, not PPV.

Who has he Liam Smith fought to justify him as a main event opponent on a PPV??

how is he better than eubank? eubank beat chudinov who was in the top 10. smith has never beaten anyone in the top 10, they only put him in the rankings because he had a belt but if you know how he got that belt you would know its not legit. eubank also had a super close fight with saunders who is at the top of the division. if liam smith did not have a belt woul he be in the rankings and the answer is no.

GGG has few options at 160, people are avoiding him. Canelo is the cash cow at 154, everybody wants a fight with him.

Smith needs more experience, and he's unknown in the US...

Canelo should be fighting someone like Andrade or one of the Charlos.
Who cares about mandatories? GGG does and that's his problem. He can stay at 160 fight every bum mandatory these crooked organizations serve up and collect every vacant belt and still NOBODY will care. Or GGG can fight better fighters, fights more fans want to see. Instead of moving up or down to get those better fights that will allow him to cross over to PPV star he chose to stay at 160 in purgatory. Canelo will fight Smith grab the belt and now he can fight either of the belt holders at 154 or maybe by then GGG will smarten up and agree to come down in weight. Point is Canelo is in the driving position. GGG is stuck in neutral after he and his team woefully got outplayed. Canelo is the cash cow, he already fought and beat much better fighters then GGG has and he's only 25. GGG has a terrible resume filled with bums and is 34 and his promoter just screwed him over and wants him to wait 1 more year at 160 and hope Canelo has grown to middleweight by then. LMAO

Canelo said 160 no problem but never said 160 my next fight and we see now that GGG will now have to sit back and wait until Canelo is a 160lb fighter, likely a year from now. If GGG said day one I will fight you at 155 catchweight this fight would of been made and there is no excuse Canelo and his camp have to waiting. But when GGG tried make demands and use the mandatory spot as leverage to enforce the fight be ONLY at 160 it backfired because Canelo threw it in the trash and is going back to fighting at 154 and if he can make 154 you look pretty ****** calling a fighter who has never fought at 160 or fought a 160lb fight a middleweight. Especially when he just won the title at 154 ONLY 1 pound less then the highest weight he's ever fought at.

Spin it however you want it was DUMB AZZ PHUK to demand the fight be at 160. That's just unrealistic and expecting Canelo to jump up to 160 for the first time just because GGG says so when that fool has REFUSED to jump up in weight his entire career and just spent months demanding a catchweight on Ward AFTER he called out fighters at 154 or 168. GGG is a proven liar and if 154 or 168 was true he would of already fought Ward and Canelo but he stuck to 160 and it blew up in his face. There is no way you can pretend this worked out in GGG's favor. Begging smaller Jr Middleweights for fights wasting 2 years of his prime and now he will just waste another year fighting bums like Wade. Should of moved up or down for the big bucks instead stuck at 160 wasteland.
Daddy ... I hate Golovkin ... please daddy ... make him go away.

                LMFAO!

It's weird but I have always viewed him as a discount Canelo.

Similar style, just slower and more flat footed (if that's possible).

I think there could be a few decent exchanges but Smith gets stopped in the second half of the fight.

He will be brave, but take punishment.

Canelo already toppled the Cotto family.

Now he's going after the Smiths.

                      Callum, you next!
