I am interested in how Smith handles this, hopefully better than his brother Paul did against Ward.

      Agreed.

Canelo's trying to quiet the Golovkin chatter...but this won't help him.

you are? i'm not. if he lost 5 roudns to john thompson he probably will lose more to canelo although maybe john thompson is better and slicker than canelo.

So semi-serious question here, who is Liam Smith?

Who has Smith fought to earn a shot at the all mighty Canelo?

Has smith ever fought anyone ranked in the top 10?

Some people here like to rag on GGG's level of opposition...again...who is Liam Smith?

canelo is making boxing fans miss the days of floyd's cherry picks. floyd would have at least waited till liam beat an over the hill fighter or had a fight or 2 on hbo against easy opposition. bringing in liam smith shows they have no standards and are willing to bring in literally anyone. the opponent simply doesn't matter. its only about canelo

                  I'm interested but not excited.

Smith will last longer than Khan, but that didn't really mean anything.

Fact is, there was no catchweight offer made to Golovkin during the negotiations. Probably because Oscar was scared he might accept it.

Canelo was never going to fight GGG this year at any damn weight.
Why make an offer for a catchweight when GGG, GGG's promoter, GGG's trainer all been in the media for about 8 months straight saying they refuse to entertain a catchweight? Canelo said 160 no problem but never said 160 my next fight and we see now that GGG will now have to sit back and wait until Canelo is a 160lb fighter, likely a year from now. If GGG said day one I will fight you at 155 catchweight this fight would of been made and there is no excuse Canelo and his camp have to waiting. But when GGG tried make demands and use the mandatory spot as leverage to enforce the fight be ONLY at 160 it backfired because Canelo threw it in the trash and is going back to fighting at 154 and if he can make 154 you look pretty ****** calling a fighter who has never fought at 160 or fought a 160lb fight a middleweight. Especially when he just won the title at 154 ONLY 1 pound less then the highest weight he's ever fought at.

Spin it however you want it was DUMB AZZ PHUK to demand the fight be at 160. That's just unrealistic and expecting Canelo to jump up to 160 for the first time just because GGG says so when that fool has REFUSED to jump up in weight his entire career and just spent months demanding a catchweight on Ward AFTER he called out fighters at 154 or 168. GGG is a proven liar and if 154 or 168 was true he would of already fought Ward and Canelo but he stuck to 160 and it blew up in his face. There is no way you can pretend this worked out in GGG's favor. Begging smaller Jr Middleweights for fights wasting 2 years of his prime and now he will just waste another year fighting bums like Wade. Should of moved up or down for the big bucks and glory instead stuck at 160 wasteland.
