But Loeffler, who promotes Golovkin, stressed there is still no deal.
"It would be great if we had some binding agreement, but we don't," he said. "I did meet with Golden Boy and they want to build the fight and shoot for the fall of 2017. From our side, we're going to continue to try to put together the biggest fights for Gennady. Both sides want to make the [Alvarez-Golovkin] fight, but it is a mischaracterization to say there is a deal."

Boxing is slowly dieing because of BS like this. Thank god for the Copa America and Eurocup becasue besides Thurman and Porter boxing is dead for me right now. Im not paying for whatever bulls*** fight Canelo has next on PPV. Make that for GGG too. Loeffler shouldnt have given in to Oscar and that fa* Gomez. F*** this.

Its biz. To publicly say "we" think its best. You dont bash your biggest pay day publicly, especially when you are the B side. Also dont want to compromise the future of your fighter. Must maintain his persona, build the brand and increase marketability. Then get the fight. Biggest stage awaits. PR move plain and simple; a smart one. Fans lack business perspective in a sport that operates like business more than any other sport.
