Ward beat Kessler with the most blatent, unpunished head butts you will ever see in a top class boxing match. That fight was an absolute disgrace.
The only really good win Ward ever had was against Froch, and Golovkin was ready to fight Froch in the UK, which is something Ward refused to do.
As for Dawson never being any good anyway. He convincingly beat Bernard Hopkins 2-3yrs before Kovalev. Outside of GGG, your kind think Kovalev is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Hopkins, 2-3yrs later, is Kovalev's best win. Furthermore, if GGG fought Hopkins today, Bernard would be the best win of his career, at 50 something.
As for Kessler. The fight doesn't count because you don't like the way Ward fought. Funny.
And Froch. Since when do you beat a guy easily, and have to travel to his home turf for him to avenge?

Li'l g has never beaten anybody, so what would beating him do for Kovalev or Ward's legacy?
good point, he is over-rated as fk

And this is EXACTLY how we feel about Hypekin, who has done absolutely nothing of note, EVER!

Beating Eubank in a big UK show, sets up the Saunders fight there, and also a DeGale fight.

Max Kellerman baited the 154-168 reply. Abel Sanchez believes that Golovkin can beat anyone from 154-168 and isn't shy to state so. Never has Golovkin flat out said this statement unprovoked.
When is not fighting someone that is not in your weight class ducking?
Belts are extremely important because they are the identifier of who is the best in a division. Although the divisions are diluted with different sanctioning bodies and diluted further with different versions of belts within the bodies, for anyone trying to make a name in boxing it's all about the belts. Nobody just walks into the game, claims to be great, makes monetary demands and gets it without first proving it. The proof is by becoming the champion. Even more so by becoming champion within different sanctioning bodies.
Speaking on Golovkin's stated objective of obtaining all the belts and/or fighting all the champions in the middleweight division, there currently three champions in the middleweight division: Saunders, Alvarez and Jacobs.
With regards to Saunders, Eubank Jr. appears to be the best middleweight match for Golovkin and would make the most sense if Golovkin's team is taking Billy Joe Saunders words to heart. Saunders did state that if Eubank Jr. fought Golovkin, then he would fight Golovkin. So if this is the tack that Team Golovkin is taking, then this would appear to be the right road to the last middleweight championship belt. If Eubank Jr. gets by Doran, then it appears Golovkin v Eubank Jr. is made in September. If Golovkin gets by Eubank Jr., then we can see how much Saunders meant of what he said.
Alvarez is still in possession of The Ring Mag Lineal and is a fight that appears to be competitive. Unfortunately with Alvarez epitomizing the image of "too big for boxing, sanctioning bodies are meaningless", it wouldn't be surprising if the lineage broke sooner than later. How long Alvarez fights consistently at middleweight and how long The Ring Mag maintains him as the lineal middleweight champion remain to be seen. An Alvarez v Golovkin fight while Alvarez is still considered the lineal middleweight champion seems unlikely.
Golovkin v Jacobs as far as the belts go would be interesting in that it would unify the belts within a weightclass within an organization. This match would make sense as a late 2017 mandatory if the above Saunders scenario comes to fruition and mid 2017 mandatory if the Saunders scenario doesn't work out that way.
Full divisional unification is quite a feat. I'd like to see it, regardless of whether or not a division is deep or sparse in talent.
In my opinion, Golovkin defeats all currently active middleweights. Also in my opinion, Golovkin's skill ceiling hasn't been seen and he needs to move up in weight to reveal it. I'm willing to wait on that because Golovkin believes he is the best in the division, claims so in so many words and wants to prove it demonstrably. Let's see it.
