You're wrong about him taking 3 to give 1; when has Maidana ever been battered? I've never seen him with cuts all over his face and swollen eyes, that's a credit to his defense.
Also, Broner fought Paulie Malignaggi for Paulie's WBA belt before he fought Maidana. It wasn't AB's fight fight at 147.
You gotta love Chino, but I still think he had a crude, brawling style. Fan friendly but one dimensional. IMO

ali and louis, the two best HW ever, had longer layoffs. louis didn't fight from june of 48 to september of 50. ali was out for 3.5 years. march of 67 to the end of october of 70.
it's not just a matter of timing with maidana. it's how he lives, and how little lasting love he's shown for boxing. he made his money and now he's going to retire in argentina as a wealthy man.

maidana should comeback.
there is a lot of money to be made with these welterweight matchups.
the fact that he fought floyd and fought competitively is worth money and leverage in a lot of these potentially explosive fights.

Maidana was dominated by Alexander (a guy who lost every time he stepped up in class) and was being schooled by an old, out of shape Morales, before he won a close decision.
Broner was untested and fighting at 147 for the first time when Maidana beat him, setting Chino up for his 2 fights with FM.
The way boxing is these days we'll soon see Chino in the HOF but don't believe the hype.
