Maidana had loads of heart and was fun to watch but in any other era this "2 time champ" would be a good journeyman fighter. Chino was a plodder and a brawler, who would take 3 punches to land one. He had a champion's heart and a great will to win but his boxing skills were limited.
Maidana was dominated by Alexander (a guy who lost every time he stepped up in class) and was being schooled by an old, out of shape Morales, before he won a close decision.
Broner was untested and fighting at 147 for the first time when Maidana beat him, setting Chino up for his 2 fights with FM.
The way boxing is these days we'll soon see Chino in the HOF but don't believe the hype.

You know Maidana was ***ed when as soon as he went in to punch Floyd Bayless grabbed him and split them up. Floyd convinced him that Maidana was a dirty fighter and he wouldn't allow Maidana to have any inside game. I still can't BELIEVE Bayless admitted he didn't see the bite. Looked at the glove and saw nothing yet STILL gave Maidana a warning.

Bayless involved in two of the shtyiest PPV fights EVER.

      Maidana / Mayweather II

      And

      Pac / Mayweather

It's a wonderful slice of karmic justice when the "brawlers" of boxing escape paid and relatively unscathed because of all the entertainment they've provided us.

The guy can still make $1 million minimum for a comeback fight fighting Berto-level fighters. $2-3 million for fighting Thurman, Brook, Garcia, Bradley...

Your comparing Maidana pre-Garcia. Garcia made him, MUCH,much better. All you have to do is look how he did against P4P #1 and the best of this generation.

Go back and watch his fights before Garcia. Yes trainers do actually matter...

I recently saw a picture of Maidana at the pool. Boy, what a belly on that guy. He must really be enjoying the retired life. Good for him.

I agree. Tony Weeks did a way better job and earned my respect. In Mayweather-Maidana he didn't coddle and baby Mayweather. It's a ****ing boxing match, handle your business you dumb mother****er. Make it worth the 60 bucks.

Maidana was a defensive brawler who had excellent head movement. He was very good at timing incoming punches. He often rolled his shoulder too. You're wrong about him taking 3 to give 1; when has Maidana ever been battered? I've never seen him with cuts all over his face and swollen eyes, that's a credit to his defense.

Also, Broner fought Paulie Malignaggi for Paulie's WBA belt before he fought Maidana. It wasn't AB's fight fight at 147.

I enjoyed watching Chino! That beating he applied to Broner was awesome.
