So is it rigo's fault that he's far superior to his opponents. When he beat donaire I really think that pissed people off because I think TR and hbo had aspirations of selling donaire as the air to Pac. Then they bring him back to headline a card in nj against abeko who just went to war with abner mares twice and rigo shut him down to where abeko was scared to throw punches. If TR and hbo truley intended on pushing rigo why would you stage the fight in nj instead of Miami? Would Miami not be the logical location considering its high Cuban population that would be most accepting of the Cuban style of boxing? I get that GGG is Mr ko and you can sell that to idiots however you can sell a technician almost as easy with some creative and strategic marketing. All of the blame can't be placed on hbo TR had a lot to do with it as well. I feel if espn could sell butterbean hbo could sell rigo
Why GGG gets criticized but Rigondeaux gets a pass?

Lmao Donaire is a first ballot HOF, who on GGG'S resume is first ballot? Geale? Rubio? How about Lemeiux?
Rigo's win over Donaire may have been a while ago but it's still a risky and great win!
GGG had/has his chances with likes of Pound for Pound top 2 boxer and king of supermiddleweight Andre Ward and currently the best jr.middleweight fighter and champ just one division below!!
Yeah, Rigo ducked Loma but the man is very small even for his division! GGG has enough in his arsenal where he can keep much bigger fighters very honest and even beat them!
That 168-154 gaffe will go down as GGG's haunting moment even if a can he fights happens to catch him cold with a lucky KO!

Please see my response to TheCell8It's not like they haven't tried to push rigo...but it's all in the results. He talks like he's the best fighter on earth but he coasts against weak opposition. Even his performance against donaire, which was a beautiful display of boxing, doesn't resonate with the casual fans who want to see a brawl or a ko. Bottom line is ggg covers a wider range of fans...not saying he's better than rigo, but what he does can be appreciated by non-purists, which happen to make up a large amount of paying fans.Comment

This right here lmao make movie references like the guy can move like the matrix or that he can be so close to you and still not get touched (like a small tv segmentioned with Rigo, a lemon and a water drop to see how fast his reactions is)So is it rigo's fault that he's far superior to his opponents. Heck, I heard the guy spits bars even though it's in spanishComment

Lmao ok maybe I gotta bit ahead of myself there but the point is that Donaire has a legit resume and took risks.
Rigo took a risk
GGG hasn't yet and he's nearly 36! Rigo should get **** for ducking Loma just as GGG with not taking on Ward at 168. 4 pounds vs 8 pounds doesn't matter, the fights worth legacy didn't happen!Comment

Of course. Loma been doing 2011-2012 Lighweight bouts, including that Gold. In other words, Loma could have done Feather and easily rehydrate to Lightweight, the same way Alvarez can hydrate north of 168.Originally posted by lopetego--- similarly, Rigo has claimed he'd move up in weight for Santa Cruz or Jhonny Gonzalez, but not for Lomachenko. He'll only fight Loma at a catchweight
That's why Rigo wanted the rehydration clause.
Easy math. You're welcome.Comment

You don't know Miami very well then. The Cuban's in Miami are predominantly white Cubans, vote **********... I don't think I need to fill in the blanks for you. They're not exactly as welcoming to their 'countrymen' as you think. If it was so easy that you could promote a Cuban fighter in Miami, it would have been done by now. But why hasn't it? Because there's no market for them there. Cuban's aren't going to appear in droves to support a Black Cuban, most Cuban boxers are black. That's just reality, unfortunately, and the lack of shows proves that. If he was white would it be easier? maybe but that would wouldn't be a guarantee either. When was the last time they had a big boxing event there? It's just not a big boxing market as people think it is.So is it rigo's fault that he's far superior to his opponents. HBO has given Rigo several chances. Rigo doesn't have any appeal. He doesn't speak English, he's got the personality of a brick, doesn't have a flashy style, and he's been booed heavily in his recent HBO fights. His last fight against Drian was supposed to be a fight to make him look good on a big PPV undercard... and he choked and put up, arguably, one of the worst performances of the year.Comment

Don't jinx the situation. ****ens vs Rigo on Box Nation could change things for the better. I doubt Box Nation fans care about HBO. LolYou don't know Miami very well then. Well he was just on the undercard of a ppv with over 900k buys, and what did he do with it? All the clever marketing in the world can't make casual fans appreciate that. Look at varas on the other hand...he sold out stubhub centre off the back of his performance on the same card. Rigo has been given opportunities and he just doesn't captivate the general audience, simple as that.So is it rigo's fault that he's far superior to his opponents. Are you serious? Loma is far far far far far away from a ratings guy.
Best win by Rigo 1.1 million viewers vs Donaire
Fights with two competing cards in HBO and SHO
Rigo vs Agbeko 518,000 viewers
Loma vs Gonzales 532,000 viewers
And they are offering 500k? Are you serious with Loma making way way to much money, for a guy with a lost and no fans.
Loma can't pay Walters Loma can't pay Rigo but he sure gets pay very well.
If he was serious he would go and fight Gamboa at 130 who wants to fight and will sure do it for around 500k instead of cheery picking a belt from the worst 130lbs rated at 15 in the division.
Instead of wanting too much he should split the purse that way they can make the fight because HBO knows for sure they getting no rating out of this guy.Comment
