Canelo said he didn't understand what the document was when he signed it. But the document also has Chepo's signature, his manager. He should be suing his manager for malfeasance. It was his manager's job to explain to him what documents he's signing. No speaka ingles is not a valid defense.

It's almost impossible to prove you didn't know what you were signing and/or tricked into signing it in court. They should have reached a settlement before getting it this far. Or they probably already have and just want it to go a bit further until Golovkin has an opponent for September lol

When faced with this kind of lawsuit you settle. Give these guys $10m before trial to go away. Going to trial is incredibly risky for them. Unless they have a better story than "I didn't know what I was signing' they're screwed. And btw I'm pretty sure Oscar can read Spanish.

I guess it looks like GBP will be paying the full amount if this is true. Like you said, should have settled. Also, the implication that they're dragging this on to make GGG sit a bit longer (forced inactivity) might be another of their tactics that I'm not fond of. If this has any bearing on the fight happening, no one is going to be happy.

It will probably be a case where Golden Boy will offer a token percentage to this group on Canelo's future fights like they got with Pacquiao after he signed with them and then re signed with Top Rank.
They won't get Canelo back and it would be ****** for them to create a situation where Canelo can't fight for what he is worth due to litigation or a judgement. I think they settle at some point. Not a good look for Oscar as this is the second time he tried to snake a guy from his current promoter that we know of.
