Then when someone much bigger than them challenges them to a fight to prove it, they say, "Nah, you're too big. I'm still the baddest there is though because I can kick anybody's ass as long as they're my own size." They would get laughed at and ridiculed.

Floyd is, admittedly, better than Marciano skill and resume wise. But he could not defeat Marciano in a fight, therefore...
This is undoubtedly one of the dumbest things I've seen on here.

Further, in the "real world" it's not as if people are just going to box and only box under the rules of boxing, they would use whatever fighting tactics they want, weapons, choke holds, etc so what's the point of even mentioning it? There is none, other than someone refusing to give Floyd any kind of props whatsoever thus the "Floyd isn't a heavyweight therefore Marciano is better" type of statements.

Again, pound for pound is a tool we use to determine who are the best boxers in the world. That's it. There is no "well what if they fought in a bar with no rules and like, stuff happens because fighter B is smaller!!"
Obviously, my analogy was meant to illustrate how laughable a smaller fighter calling himself the best is if he refuses to compare himself with men larger than he is. Just because people have been using a certain criteria to judge fighters by for eons doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Arguing someone was the greatest in their respective weight class is legit; When you talk about THE BEST though, you have to compare everyone with everyone IMO.

The rest of the world has a pound for pound system which is simply a way to determine who the best fighters are regardless of weight. We can say Andre Ward and Roman Gonzalez are without question among the best that the sport has to offer, without having to explain that higher weight class fighters are all better than them because they are bigger (i.e pound for pound).
Lol this guy thinks that street brawls matter,Manny Pac could KO Wlad with nutt shot but who cares,he just cant anknowladge that its about boxing skills and resume in your devision.

            Floyd.... No contest..

Marciano reigned over a very weak division, and his best wins were vs old blown up light heavyweights..

Floyd is much more skilled, more longevity, better opponents..

Marquez and Maidana are probly bigger threats than anyone rocky fought...

What part of my posts says there shoudn't be a system to judge people by? There is - Who is the fighter most likely to beat everybody else? I'm saying it shouldn't be limited to people based on weight. Let me repeat what I said:

"Arguing someone was the greatest in their respective weight class is legit; When you talk about THE BEST though, you have to compare everyone with everyone IMO."

This topic is far too complex to debate on the internet with people who dont know a lot about boxing not to mention boxing history.
