I'm of the opinion that boxers aren't scared to fight anybody.

ggg and his team thought they would have leverage against Canelo. But Canelo was like "fook this belt, you can have it. I got enough money to buy 100 belts"
That's where the leverage kicks in. No mandatory split. Here's 2.5 million and some from the ppv cut (ggg biggest purse yet) we meet at 155. "You want the glory come get it"

I can easily see how Canelo could drop this belt. He's the star, he's the A side. I think ggg would be a fool to refuse the offer (Maybe negotiate it to 156-157 if he could) but if he don't....your boys a punk!

    I guess 154-175 meant only at 160...
    Triple G is his mando

GGG doesn't need Canelo. Nobody thinks Canelo has a chance, he's just a popular fighter who might give GGG a good fight. If Canelo is a true MW, he needs to prove himself against a couple MW's before fighting GGG.

Meantime Golovkin has good options with Saunders, Jacobs, DeGale/Jack winner, Rameriz, Eubank, Derevyanchenko, Khytrov, Quillin, and maybe a unified champ from 154lbs.

He actually doesn't have all those options... And not on huge money anyway.

GGG makes $2mill per fight, he won't be hurting for money when he retires regardless if he ever fights Canelo.

they both need the fight, and boxing needs the fight. neither of them has any better options on the table right now

I see your point, of course... but the temptation is there to stay...

Quit a bit. Prior to the ODL fights Mosley had never fought in a big money fight or on PPV (although we all know non heavyweight PPV's were rare back then.) After those wins he fought on PPV a few more times and some big money HBO fights against Winky, Vargas, Cotto, Margarito etc..
The ODL wins certainly advanced his career much more than if he never had ODL on his resume. He became a name guys wanted to fight.
Now he never became a mega star but a lot of that his his fault with the whole Balco stuff that branded him a cheater, but going up and fighting (and beating) Oscar put him on a different level.
If GGG goes to 155, beats Canelo he becomes a much a bigger draw as well and his purses would reflect that. Right now he has the WBC strap but it does nothing for him. Most casual sports fans still have no idea who he is.

                  Not no more.

Now he's just a guy who could only say "yes" or "no" to an offer.

GGG got his belts mission nearly accomplished just bjs and jacobs
We'll see how big a star having "the belts" make him.

Anyone who knows anything about boxing knows its about who you fight, fans don't give a fuuck about the belts.

Ggg should take what canelo gives him since Canelo is the a side here.

If not ggg can walk and see how far having belts and fighting bums take him.

Triple G needs Canelo if he wants to become a superstar...fighting danny jacobs and billy joe saunders won't do that for him...
