Great post but I disagree about GGG beating Nelo easely.
Nelo can box, it's not like GGG was a very fast slick spoiler like Lara or Floyd.
He will be more available and Nelo will be able to do his boxing and trade with GGG IMO and should outbox him for some rounds.
After the 6th, I think GGG's power should start to wear down Nelo at some point and stop him by the 11th round.
GGG is "outboxable', in amateur (that's only amateur), Bute was outboxing him as hell, then GGG started to be pissed off and koed Bute with a right hand lol.
The GGG vs Direll fight was a close fight, Direll looked like he was able to outbox GGG but was somehow beaten physically and mentally by GGG.
My point is GGG ain't no Floyd, Rigondeaux or a prime Jones Jr, he's outboxable.
Right now, he looks like he has an iron chin and Roberto Duran's power, but he's fighting at best B fighters, interesting to see how those assets would work against a A fighter like Alvarez.
IMO, GGG has a better jab, hook, cross, better body puncher, cuts the ring better (big problem for Canelo), and has EXTREMELY underrated defense.....he is similar to Duran in that regard, turning into shots to take the power off, blocks many with his gloves, moves just enough to that ****s barely miss, etc., he can also counter but is just more offensive....and being outboxed by faster guys is different than someone like Canelo who isn't all that fast and very slow footed.
GGG isn't lighting fast.....but he controls space as well as anyone in the sport and the only one better in recent memory was Floyd......and he does it with his feet......
I think Canelo will be somewhat competitive just like you said......for the first few rounds. But that relentless pressure and power?? I think it will end a little earlier...particularly with all the BS Canelo has been talking.....
I think we agree on most of this. I think Canelo is a very good fighter. I think GGG is a great fighter. And I'm not basing this on their resumes......just with what I see........when you've watched the sport for 30+ years and have also participated in it, you can tell who's real and who isn't.....
I don't think either fighter is scared. I think Canelo dropped the belt because he truly believes he'll leave the ring with it. I disagree........problem is that I think Oscar agrees and they'll try to avoid this for another fight or too....but the kid is a true believer and this backlash is probably irritating to him and soon will be unbearable. If he take the fight now, he won't take anymore hits to his reputation......He is a Mexican fighter.......Mexican fans simply don't tolerate this "let it marinate' garbage......
If it doesn't happen this time, were I GBP, they should seek the fight with Saunders. I'm sure he's much more willing to get in the ring with Canelo than GGG. If he wins, they'll have that fourth belt that GGG wants and as long as they make the fight by this time next year....he won't be too damaged.
But if it goes longer? He won't recover and instead of 'Chicken De La Hoya', it will be 'Chicken Canelo'.....he won't like that.
I think Oscar is trying to protect is star. I think his star's pride is about to catch him a brutal physical and mental beating it will take awhile to recover from.......but he'll be good enough to beat most other MWs.........Comment

Purse bids were scheduled to take place next week and Golovkin was entitled to 45% under the WBC rules. It's understandable that Canelo dropped the belt for this reason.Comment

Absolutely !
They are still negotiating, let's wait and see what happens.
But will it be understandable if Golovkin refuses to negotiate on the weight after talking all that smack for THREE YEARS, or if he refuses to accept a reasonable B-side percentage?
Not by me......
Because his " mando doe " excuse regarding the weight, and his 45% cut, just got washed down the toilet.
Who's in the driver's seat now b1tches ?
They wanted to play that " A-side " **** to catchweight Ward..... but then they suddenly discovered some integrity for the sport and hid behind the mandatory when it came to Canelo.
Canelo will try to make this fight, you watch..... but now Team Bull**** have to fight for what they are worth...... so let's find out how much that is.Comment

Bottom line: he now needs GGG far more than before he dumped the belt and will be forced to pay for it
As an aside, can you imagine if GBP goes in a different direction now and tries to match Canelo with someone like Lemieux as has been mooted
That fight should be billed as "The guy that ducked GGG vs the guy that GGG steamrolled" and is no better than an undercard bout on a bill headlined by GGGComment

Embarrassing for that ****ing idiot canelo, how he can look his fellow mexicans in the eyes i will never know!!!!! He has shamed their nation, period.
Another BS excuse from him, not enough time to make the fight properly!!!! LOL you have got to be joking, one of the worst excuses i have ever heard. Canelo may be used a well used floyd tactic, wait for the dangerous fighter to show a bit of poorer form then talk about the fight again, its may well be that simple. Pathetic, this is one of the things that is wrong with boxing imo, the fight is hot NOW. Golovkin should just forget about canelo now imo, he will just continue this **** until golovkin slows up or gets injured or something like that, what a ****ing idiot canelo is after all his talk and stringing things out, he never had any intention of fightingComment

From most accounts I'm seeing everything was good except the cut. Oscar wanted 80/20, K2 wanted 30/70. Weight was fine. Venue, etc & so on was fine. 10% difference on the cut seems like something that could easily be discussed & decided within almost a full week. And assuming this is all true which who knows maybe its not, but with Canelo saying he'd fight at 160 after the Khan fight it would seem like the main issue was likely the cut.
So why drop the belt with plenty of time to make a deal likely over 10% of the cuts before the ******ly constructed purse bid situation? Seems like you make a fair attempt at a deal til 24hrs or less til you slide into the purse bid & then you drop the belt if you must.Comment

Dropping the belt before things got to a purse bid makes sense. GGG deserves 45% of that fight like I deserve 1% of Taco Bell's yearly profits cuz I buy a quesarito every other week & take 3 days off my life with each one eaten. What didn't make sense was them dropping the belt almost a week before there 15 day deadline.

It's worth a lot more than it was a few days ago because Canelo's credibility has taken a massive hit since made the dumbarse decision to drop the belt

That is absolute rubbish, I don't believe a word of it.
He still doesn't need Golovkin at all, not one bit.
And Golovkin has still never beaten a world-class opponent.
And if Canelo did intend to remain at middleweight, which is highly unlikely..... he will fight Saunders/Jacobs way before Hypekin will. Why would they fight Pepe Le Pew?
Exactly !Comment
