Yea but the sucky part about it is, is that it makes Canelo look like he needs a special set of circumstances to try to beat the best in the division he fights in. It's no good for him or boxing. It's a bad look. I still think of that BS fight when Pacquiao weight drained De La Hoya and Oscar couldn't even get a meal in before the fight he was so shot. Canelo needs to box at 154 for now.

It's embarrassing how many 'fans' seem to feel that the highest value in the sport is $. Canelo throws away a belt so he can demand more money and they're thrilled 'cos he's 'won.' Pathetic. You do realize that it's you he's ****ing? You do understand that hi******* belts and demanding catchweights then when you're cornered dumping them at the last minute is terrible for the sport?Comment

AKAcronym - I totally agree that Canelo should get paid more. What's your point?
If the sport degenerates to the point that there are no meaningful rankings, no meaningful titles, no meaningful rules for how business is done what do you think will happen to the business? Let me give you a clue. It will be harder than ever for new fighters to make their way in the business because without rankings how is their progress measured? It will be harder than ever for them to win championships because if there are no rules that force champions to give them the shot they have earned champions can just ignore dangerous challengers. If what a fighter is paid is determined by those further up the pecking order than them and they have no come back at all, how much do you think they will earn? The rich will get richer and everyone else will suffer. etc etc. Basically everybody except a few fat cats at the top will suffer. It's ironic that as the middle class of our society is being crushed you don't seem to notice that what you are proposing will give the same result for the sport we all love.Last edited by petegrif; 05-19-2016, 05:00 PM.Comment

I really don't understand how ppl r still takin canelA's side, after he just gave away his belt with no fight. To me it's like backing down from any fight (street or pro), he straight up pu$$ied out. Maybe not him but his team knew that canela has great chance of losing that fight and that would damage his reputation n lose the belt. It was never about the weight. So they come up with some bs like don't want to negotiate under pressure/deadlines but we will still fight him such BS. If they didn't want to fight him to keep the belt what makes u think that they will still fight him. Everything both sides say now is damage control to canelA reputation. Fight is not gonna happen anytime soon.Comment

That has yet to be seen, both sides are still "negotiating". Am I lacking in the reading comprehension department or is damn near everyone on NSB jumping the gun too quickly? Neither side said they were through attempting to get the fight done, neither side stepped away from the negotiation table, so why is everyone up in arms? It's quite interesting to sit back and watch the world spin out of control.
Now, if the fight falls through and both men go on their way then yes, Saul will deserve the ridicule. Until then I reserve my judgement. You never know what tomorrow holds in store.Comment

golden girl's protecting the golden egg
cant let canelo lose again yet
gotta squeeze out a few more ppvs
he can carry a few other fights with builtup welters or hacky light middleweights and make a lot of money
don't want his ass beat yet and career significantly stopped
Oscar the golden girl cant let his stable crash yet until he signs a few other fighters who have substantial earning power so his company doesn't completely submerge after canelo losesComment
