Completely unrealistic to think this kind this fight could be negotiated in 15 days.

The same people calling for Canelo to vacate are now butthurt that he did. Can't win...

Only because Canelo is involved is it unrealistic.

After Stevenson pulled out of fighting Hopkins, Kovalev vs Hopkins was negotiated and signed in 2 days. No games. For the belts at the divisional limit.

It's totally possible if both guys actually want to fight.

So he drops the title.

Now, GGG's got two choices. Take the belt and run (which WOULD BE a duck), or accept Caneloweight and whatever other non-Vaseline terms Alvarez can come up with.

It's a brilliant move. Now we get to see if GGG really does want the fight.

Paul Williams? You mean the same Paul Williams that was iced by Sergio? The same Paul Williams who clearly wasn't the same after that and lost to Lara only to get a gift decision? A decision so bad that the judges for that fight were suspended. That Paul Williams?

Yeah the same one that beat Ishida. The guy that Golovkin then defended his title against after he'd lost three of his last five.

Do you see how easy that is? That's because no matter what we think of what he does in the ring, who he's done it against at this point makes for poor reading. Its easy to do that with Golovkin. Not as much with Canelo.

I'm a fan of both. But criticising Alvarez for wanting a fight Williams doesn't make much sense especially in the context of modern multi title boxing where avoidance of even 50/50's is increasingly common place. And it doesn't change the fact that he was regarded as a fighter that other fighters would look to avoid, even after the loss to Martinez.

Criticise Canelo for this move if it turns out the way most feel it will. All day long. But criticising him for wanting to square off against Paul Williams is tantamount to nit picking.

Canelo ducked man, he wanted no part of ggg at 160, and now ggg is MW champ. Canelo had 2 choices in his mind, either not fight GGG and get stripped the belt, or not fight GGG and vacate the belt.

Funny how people say how smart or dumb canelo is.He is not calling the shots at all,even if he states his opinion he could easily be persuade,he could say i can beat him and gomez or dlh can say "we all know that,but you rather make 20 million now and u never know if god not willin you lose,or have 3 more fights,make 35 million then next year fight him and make another 50 mill"..Canelo I dont think is scared(no boxer is)but his promoters are,they know he could lose.I am mexican and think canelo would lose by ko,i think round 8-9.
