he doesnt have to answer to anything....as long as HBO and K2 get away with the mismatches while maximizing profits and promo, he can do this another 3-5 years. His die hard fans and casual fans dont care who he fights as long as its a high % he'll win and a ko. Ride off in the sunset pockets far, but with a crap resume. dah well

variations in the responses like this are typical when the fights start getting big
big fights need big, polarized fanbases. the tribalism promotes itself.
ward - golovkin would have been huge. i don't think golovkin is going to go to 175 lbs, nor should he.
luckily we have ward - kovalev.
the winner of that fight, barring something ridiculous, is a lock for the best p4p fighter in the world.Comment

how can you call yourself an objective poster when this is how you talk about a top 5 pound for pounder on any decent list?
it'd be one thing if you ever gave golovkin credit and remained critical when it's warranted. but you're not that guy.Comment

There was never an offer for a fight at 164 pounds. That is just a comment that Golovkin's trainer threw out. Despite all the trash talk, the only offer made between the two was made by Ward's team for a fight at 168 and Golovkin's promoter turned it down 20 minutes later.Comment

Honestly, there might be talk about Golovkin moving up to 168 but I'm starting to wonder if it will ever happen. Golovkin is 34 now...
He's still looking to get fights with Billy Hoe Saunders, Chris Eubanks Jr., Danny Jacobs, and Canelo (which may happen when Golden Boy gets ****ed in the ass from the lawsuit). I don't think Golovkin would fight 4-times a year with guys like these. Probably 2, at most, 3. He'll be 36-37 if he ever gets all of these guys done with. Nobody knows how long Golovkin is planning to stay in boxing, but it can't be denied he's been in it a very long time since he was a kid... Have to wonder, will he quit before he starts slipping, or keep going like Roy Jones Jr. and tarnish his legacy?Comment

Absolutely.
Ward would have beaten the **** out of Lil G anyways. Lil G and his turtle head trainer both know that. So do all his worshippers.Comment
