I saw Canelo hitting Cotto **** on the chin with his best shots, the same kind of shots he KO'd Khan with, and Cotto didn't wobble. I thought when I was watching it that if GGG was hitting Cotto like that, Miguel would be leaving the ring in a stretcher.
GGG has a great chin ... never been down or even wobbled in 450 top class amateur fights or as a pro. Lemieux can **** but his punches had no effect on Golovkin. Same with Stevens.
Canelo's reputation as a power puncher is an illusion. Against men his own size, Canelo lacks power. He needs weak a chinned opponent, like Kirkland, or a huge size advantage, like he had over Khan, to keep that illusion going.
Canelo's forte ... what he does best, is counter punching from mid to close range. He has an average jab, slow feet, and no range for his size. Trust me mate, he would have zero chance of beating Golovkin with those kind of tactics, and his team know that as well as I do. Golovkin would take Canelo's best shots without any trouble and hit him back 3X as hard.
Why wouldnt Canelo get on the scales on the night before he fought Khan? I'll tell you why ... because unlike Canelo and his cynical scum bag team, scales don't lie. Canelo is a MW, and he's a big MW.
He is still young though, which is why he is able to get away with draining himself down to 155. The only chance he has of beating GGG is to bribe Golovkin into draining himself too, which is what Oscar will be trying to do right now, probably.
